Alright guys idk if this means anything but i keep noticing that if i add nutes to purified water it causes barely any change in the ph (according to my liquid ph tester) it still stays green.

When i add the Exact same amount of nutes to distilled water it drops it really low to the orange color.

has anybody found this to be true or is something that im doing just off?

everytime i add even 1/4 tsp of veg nutes to some distilled water it drops really low and im stuck there putting ph up in it until its back to around 6.5.

i just added 1/4 veg nutes to purified water and its looking right around 6.5

is it something in the purified water causing it not to drop so low or what? its saving me alot of time and effort when i put some nutes in purified water and its still looking around 6.5...thought id see what you guys think :cough:

i have ben thinking about trying Distilled water to water my plants but im rly not sure if it does any good .hope somme Expert on this will reply :joint:

Purified and distilled water reack different from each other when added nutes and ph adjusments are made.

So is it ok to use purified water throughout the entire grow? The water I have infront of me (nestle pure life purified water) has calcium chloride, sodium bicarbonate, magnesium sulfate so I was told using this throughout entire grow might cause salt buildup...?

Also when it says " enhanced with minerals for taste " are any of these minerals beneficial or perhaps bad for your plants?

Sorry if these are silly question I never really thought about water so much lol :smokebuds:

the sodium bicarbonate while yes can be used for raising ph is going to increase the amount of residual salts ie sodium

by what means was the water "purified" is the answer really

the higher fluctuation you would see in r/o water while it stabilizes as an example is the exchange of ions w/o particulate matter to buffer to be simple

the sodium bicarbonate while yes can be used for raising ph is going to increase the amount of residual salts ie sodium

I'm thinking I may just use purified water throughout the whole grow BUT every 3 or 4 watering just give a good watering of distilled water to rid salts that are building.. any input on that?

can you not get r/o water??
usually most grocery stores have r/o dispensers that if you refill will run about .60 a gallon after you buy the gallon jug and fill it for a dollar the first time
i would go this route if you can
i can explain in more detail but for now the simple answer would be yes you can....but no i wouldn't
but this takes alot more specifics about the water being used and why they are dif eventhough they are all "water"

ok to quickly start
I am famuliar w/ the water you are talking about it is also similiar to a product called dasani by cocacola i believe but anyway
this water while originally filtered by means of reverse osmossis to remove the ppm the key here is the added taste benefit for human consumption

here is the key human consumption
while i wouldn't even bother w/ why i wouldn't generally use that form of calcium due to it's residual bonding molecules in that form and the compounds it creates during exchange
the main focus i would center on is the use of bicarbonates reducing potential yields longterm
one in the same ballpark reason softened water from a water softener using bags of salt to reduce hardness is toxic to plants also
but this is just a touch on the topic of water
there are soooooo many inbetweens on the subject because of what else is lurking in the h20
this is a broad topic but ask away on various inbetweens
there has to be a thread somewhere of dif types of water??

now back more specifically to your question
the distilled water is much like r/o water w/ the addition of no additives

distilled water is water evaporated through boiling and then the vapor water is collected and condensed back into h2o in a liquid state containing no particulate mater for the most part pure hydrogen and oxygen molecules w/no residual bonds

R/O water reverse osmosis is water forced through a membrane w/ tiny holes that allow the h20 to pass through while trapping residule molecules to reduce the ppm of water to desired levels

filtered water is usuall where the situation starts to get fuzzy

some filters depending on their design will reduce enough ppm and chlorine to be used and honestly this is really the route i would go in most cases

then the area goes in all directions from there like well water chlorinated city water
some areas of city water are ok to use after chlorine is disipated some still need a sediment filter to lower ppm of tds
some city water MUST be filtered through a special type of filter do to the use of chlorimine as a source of chlorine and it will not disipate the same as normal chlorine
seee alotttt of dif directions
but even some spring water straight from the bottle while containing higher leves of dds can still be used w/o an issue it depends on what the tds are introduced from the source gathered
hope this helps alittle more
i at this moment personally use a combination of r/o and my tap water after dechlorination but this doesn't suite everyones needs depending on their water source
one will notice alot of faster fluctuation in the ph of strsaight r/o water which is the reason one wants to use it but water that can have some ppm will fluctuate alittle slower depending on the needs of the garden in question and the needs and demends of the plants
