Hi, I thought I'll repay you a visit: Since I see you're going directly into the mother nature, ever considered puttin'em into some kind of a home-made (plastic-easy) green house? It worked with my own early spring seeds, but I'm not sure they were just strong or it really helped'em. When I had babies as small as that, it was about 20C max, 5C min (those times they've been on the window sill), really crazy experiment it was. Purple one looking nice. Wish you luck with BAM!

Hello again Solomon,

i do have a small greenhouse. The problem is that I work from home so we have people in and around the house everyday except Sundays. Also as I have to travel from time to time and my husband works away from the house, the safest solution is to plant outdoors on the property where I know no one ever goes.

My advice to you on your thread, was based on my belief that it's better to be safe than sorry; I don't want any stupid/jealous/malicious person to have something over me, or spoil the life of my family just because the law says it's wrong. Happily the weather down here is perfect for Canna from April to October.

I meant something like a cut plastic barrel or bottle turned upside down with some vents (hot nail makes the trick). It can be used no matter where u plant'em and it can help in cold nights. good luck to your grow.

Okay I understand, no cold nights here now for at least the next 5 months so They will be fine in the ground. Thanks for the suggestion.

Everybody's Tickity - Boo

Been away for 5 days and left my plants unattended. Buddha Purple Kush is putting on bud slowly but surely, and the 3 AutoMazar seemed to like the injection of Plagron Power roots, I gave them last Sunday.
Leaf miners are having a bit of a go but once the plants go into the ground surrounded by inhospitable companion plants ( basil, Rosemary and marigolds) everyone soon gets the message.

Why can't everything be as easy as growing heirloom tomatoes?

Day 18 AutoMazar

We've had 3 straight days of 30C so pots were looking dryish. Gave water with Plagron Power Roots. It's amusing how much bigger these plants are at 18 days compared to my poor stunted BPK . Re the BPK I have decided to try out Reafs system of giving no water to Canna planted in the ground after a certain stage. I will check on her every 3 days or so but will let her fight for water and hope that helps her bud up

Not it sure what's up with the upside down pics......

Hello EoF!

I have only bought and used Plagrons Power Roots because my local growshop (2 hours drive away) is the funniest and most shambolic business I've come across ever, even for this part of the world. He had the bio bizz trial pack and I bought it, returned two days later to buy the bio bizz root juice and he said he only had PPR so I bought that.

I am afraid my soil is cheap old Lidl multi purpose compost, organic blood meal and fish bone pellets and approximately 30% perlite. I am an experienced organic veg, fruit and flower gardener, (but new to Canna growing) but after reading huge amounts of sometimes contradictory information, regarding soil composition, I decided to keep this grow simple and do it how I know. Next time I might get more adventurous. I also want to try AACT as I can only outdoors and it seems to work for Reaf from SA, whose outdoor weather conditions are pretty similar to mine.

i can't tell whether the Plagron Power Roots have done anything to hinder or help as I have no reference point, being a newbie.

i always appreciate, advice, information, pointers and even mockery so feel free if you spot anything comment worthy during my grow.

Hey thanks man.a buddy was showing me the stuff (their soil)awhile back and looked pretty interesting. if you were to get a good batch and it worked as advertised,i wonder how well or crappy it would do or if it'd be responsive to a tea.?...the 420 soil looks interesting too.id love to try it too but frigin shipping is veery expensive. I use teas all the time, and am very new to organics myself.Ive just completed my first try at it(organics/TLO) with good information and past grows to guide me.I got a couple bloom tea recipes (the most recent few) on my 100% organic thread that I thought were pretty good.some excellent info in organics for ACT/AACT,inoculants,compost,recipes you name it (under organic section)and imo from what Ive used its all good info. too.Just take what is useful to ya.thats mostly what I did and of you have past dealing with true organics then your gonna take off in no time Id think.your colors are stunning and the few pics I opened looked good.Im sure ill be stopping by a bit more now that I know your growing organic, and your gals are awesome.take it easy man."AFN smoke out":pass: have you read the Revs book by chance?that helped me in a huge way once I read it three times.LOL!:pass:

just googled the book. But it seems to be a guide for indoor growing, I can only grow outdoors and have to put them in the ground for stealth reasons once they are a certain size.

I assume that plants in the ground need less Molly cuddling and the most important thing is composition of the soil in the hole the plants go into.
Just checked your grow - awesome!
