Grow Mediums Question about Molasses in Autopot

Good evening Fellow growers.

This is my first time using Autopots. I am extremely happy with what I am seeing so far. I know I have read that you shouldn't use organics in the Res due to the lines clogging. Which I can see why as it will clog things up. However has anyone ever try to feed say Molasses by just pouring it over the top of the Coco/Soil that you have in the pot. as you would when you water in soil etc. If your not clogging the lines then whats the problem. I really like to use molasses when I grow and thought this may work. Anyone have any thoughts?

Why not just measure out and add whatever you want to the bottom reservoir? For example, if you know your plant is sucking up about .5 L daily and you want to dose something at 2 mL/L, just add 1 mL/day into the plant's reservoir.

Also with Autopots, I recall it is best (recommended?) to avoid top feeding after a while. Top feeding disturbs/dissolves the salts that naturally build up in the very top levels of the Autopot's media/soil due to the constant slow wicking and evaporation of feed solution from the bottom.

You really don't need molasses in coco.
You get Ca elsewhere, and coco is inert media so no need carbs also.

You could try turning off the autopot water supply for a day or two and then top feed a solution of whatever you want mixed into water. This has been done very successfully by @Ryker604 using coco, biotabs and top feeding PK booster.

I may be wrong but I don't think there would be a build up of salts in the upper part of the medium when using organics, so I think top feeding will be good.

To add to the discussion, as @hippy71 said, I have top fed plants in my last grow with Autopots and it worked great. I have also seen other people doing top feeds with their Autopots, with success. Just don't forget to close the water supply for a day before top feeding .

Molasses cannot be taken up by the plant. It has to be broken down by microbes before it's ready for plant intake. It has no use as a plant food. It's great for prepping soil for next year tho, so perfect for the compost heap, or brewing teas.

Mollases feeds the soil not the plant so if ur not using soil ur wasting time and money
