New Grower Quick germ advise please!

That tap root is plenty long brother. Germinating is typically done just to see if a seed will pop, then it should be immediately placed in it's growing media. Keeping the hydroton covered with plastic wrap and misting it sounds like a perfect idea. It's a humid environment and provides the seedling with additional warmth. You do not want to bring a light closer until the seedling breaks out of the top of the pellet. Light is not needed until after the cotyledon leaves shed the shell. There's no way for the plant to perform photosynthesis until this happens. Also, the seed will pop faster "looking" for light as opposed to it just baring down on it.

Make sure the pellet is nice and wet, spritz the hydroton around where you're putting the pellet in, place the pellet in the hydroton and surround it and cover with saran wrap. Keep a close eye on the temperatures (<70 when getting a seedling to sprout can cause damping off) and the moisture of the saran wrap. You do not want it soaked, just moist.. like if you took a paper towel, wet it and then squeezed it out.

I'd plant that seed instead of taking more pictures of it, every time you open the paper towel and let the air hit isn't a good thing.

Let us know how it goes!

Plant that bad boy! haha. Whatsgoodie has some good info. Poke a few holes in that saran wrap though, they do still need air and ya don't wanna choke them or anything.

Do you have a inline filter so your halo line doesn't get clogged with sediment from the peat pellet? Those little 2 or 5 Gallon PH connectors get clogged so easy.

Air is always good! I'd poke the holes around the edge of the bucket and not near the peat plug though as you want the humidity there to help it spring. If that's all the peat he has a_w, are you sure it'd clog? The media is 100% hydroton, isn't it? I think when he said media would be the peat pellets and hydroton he meant the peat pellets were just to start it. Mixing them in the actual media would be a very bad idea because they're pretty prone to mold.

Yes, 100% sure it would clog unless it has a inline filter. Those little tiny connectors from the water pump to the halo are bad when it comes to clogging. In line filter $4.00..

Thanks for the info guys, I got it all set up. I'll keep you posted.

Damn bro, very clean and professional. I really like the cab set-up. I take it it's near the outside since your temperature reader is connected to the outside. Do you have fresh air for air intake? Fresh air + DWC is beast mode for plants.

Looks great with the saran wrap on top man. Keep an eye on it and keep an eye on the moisture, check it regularly every 4-6 hours. I'd check at 4 hours the first time to gauge how often you should check it. Try to maintain the initial moisture give or take a tiny bit. Keep the water bottle your spritzing with near a light or heating pad too so the water hitting the roots isn't too cold. As soon as the seed starts to come above the rooter, get rid of the saran wrap. The tail from your photos makes me think it'll pop within 24-48 hours. Some strains can be more vigorous than others though.

OK, the waterfarm system isn't supplying the halo with water. You have a bubbler and not a water pump. The halo serves a purpose, and seeing how you paid for this "system" you might want to buy a water pump to fully utilize what you have here. That halo is meant to spray-drip oxygenated water from the bucket to the hydroton 24-7 hours a day. DWP is different from DWC. Both have a bubble air pump. But one of them has a water drip from the bucket to the halo. And yes, because it runs 24/7, this means you don't have to top your water near as often.
