I see another thread asking something similar, but I didn't want to bump an older post and hijack someone else's thread.

A little background: I picked up some Prescription Blend early on at the suggestion of Waira. At the time, I was already in flower and trying to salvage an Auto Northern Lights plagued by some issues brought on by soil and poor nutrition. That run is over. I think these nutes did help (she fattened up beautifully), but the damage was already done. I'm excited to do a proper grow with a lighter soil and prescription blend for the full run.

I have four seedlings. We're about 3 days out from sprout, so just starting to see the second sets of true leaves. The other post mentions to start with the seedling dose after a few sets of true leaves. Could you be more specific? Is there any risk of me going ahead and doling out those first few ml around day 8 or so? I expect that's when they will need water again.

Thanks!

Perscription Blend? which products and what media are you in? It is most likely ok unless you are using a precharged soil. Here is part of their feed chart showing seedlings.

Sorry, I neglected a lot of detail here and wasn’t very clear! Got lazy.

By PB I did indeed mean prescription blend. :) I am in happy frog so very light soil. They shipped the same chart with mine, but I guess I’m paranoid. I read so much about nutrient burn early on that I’m surely being over cautious!

thanks for the reply!

@olegren you can start out with a very light feeding at the lowest dose. Happy frog is a very light mix but still I’d recommend starting very light with nutrient since it’s early.

tag me if you have any other questions. Glad to hear your last crop finished out even with some hurdles.

:woohoo1: great to hear PB helped with your last auto, and now you're onto a full proper run!
Definitely feed them next time, the seedling dosage is fine... no need to soak the pot, a nice drink around the center is plenty for this first feeding. If you have a EC/TDS meter, you can help gauge the strength of your feeds better as you ramp up the dosage...
Each cultivar is going to have different tolerances and demands for feeds, so you'll have to be on your toes with this! I fed until I saw a slight bit of tip burn, which came at 50% strength, but I was in a fairly rich soil vs. HF... Some were OK with a stronger mix, a couple were more touchy so I ended up making a set strength and then diluting down a bit for the more sensitive ones. Full strength, as you see on the chart, is pretty hot! So be mindful of that, the plants relative size, and how much in volume you put in too, the cumulative amount resident in the soil,...
I'm sure you'll be stoked for these nutes and their performance Ole', I got some of the best bud:leaf ratio formation to date with them!
Do some foliars with KelpFul and BioSi, about 300ppm (1.0EC=500ppm scale) of nutes alone, not the water included. Best to use RO/DI/very low ppm water for this anyway, IMO...... Oh and a wetting agent is KEY, so is spraying the underside of the leaves (far more stomata there than on top); I like Coco-Wet for that if you can get it but any good product will do. Knocking down the beading so it coats and sticks more evenly makes for better absorption over surface area -
If you have self-fill water machines around, that's a great way to go and far cheaper usually,.. they are very low ppm's...

Lastly, mind the pH going in, your water will influence this greatly depending on it's hardness (or lack of)... I ran straight RO, and had to adjust up a bit to get to mid-6's pH.... And of course you in-pot pH, best use a soil pH probe for that. The Accurate 8 is a good unit...
The soil and nutes help with buffering, but I find all FF soils to be dubious for quality and pH! HF tends to be better than OF, which is garbage,... Next run, consider switching to something else... I've been liking Royal Gold King's Mix... :smoking:

Thank you @Waira for sharing this wealth of information! Thanks, @Prescription Blend for getting back to me as well!

I will definitely ramp it up slow. I think I will get them transplanted to their 3G pots in the next day or two, so I will plan to go in with a half dose or so when I wet those down post-transplant. Thanks for the tip on the spray, too! I will definitely give that a shot.

We have hard water around here (~400 ppm according to my cheapie TDS meter). I've been using that. I have a softener but I bypass it, as I learned early on that those salt pellets can mess a plant up. I looked into an RO setup for home but wasn't crazy about it. Wish I could find one of those self-fill stations locally. PH out of tap tends to be around 7.0 or so, and I PH down to 6.2-6.7 with some citric acid. Once I use this up, I'm just gonna get some real PH Down. The citric works but seems to only last for a couple days, so I have to re-treat pre-mixed doses sometimes.

I picked up an Accurate 8 (at your suggestion :D) and have found it to be really helpful. My HF/OF mix from the previous grow was right on the nose of 7.0; while some Espoma soil I had been using was around 6.7. Have yet to check the HF, but will absolutely do so before I do the transplant. I picked up some peat moss too in case I need to lower the PH a bit. Once I use up all this HF (I gave the rest of my OF away), I'm going to get something different! This grow should use up the last of it.

You can also use pH min for a swimming pool, it's about a third of the price. Just make sure it is liquid and has Sulfuric acid in it like this one...

Check out tnb naturals ph up and down. I’ve been using up and really like it. A little goes a long Ways and is super stable
