Is the filter important on the systems I see they have one on the return line to the pump with a shut off valve just wonder'N if I can get away with out it any help greatly appreciated
 
Yes its important in a RDWC system, you can run without, if you lines are big enough but i wouldn't recommend it. People install them for a reason for sure. I don't think they are expensive either. Why chance it over something so small?
 
I have 3/4 inch and 1 1/2
3/4 is my return line
Can u tell me the purpose for the filter ?
