hey,
i have a photo plant i bought mistakenly thinking it was an auto(it was listed under autos). it is a week or so into flowering and is growing quick. i currently have it in 10l pots and its about 3ft6" tall.

im wondering whether i will need to re-pot it soon?

the soil is quite hard now as i think it is mostly roots! i roughed up the top of soil to water it and i could see the roots! i dont have too much room left so dont want it growin a lot bigger but i dont want the plant to suffer if it gets root bound.

is there a way to tell if its root bound without removing it from the pot?

it is going fine in the pot at the moment so will it be ok for the remainder (about 8 weeks left)? or will i need to re-pot as it grows bigger?

hope that all makes sense!
thanks for any advice.

10L is fine, it will just require watering more frequently and probably necessitate vigorous fertilization once it's in full gear (it's close).

I would recommend removing about an inch of loose soil and mulch aggressively...that will keep water in the pot and protect your roots from light and damage. Mulch also acts as a buffer to help water absorb into the soil. When you're feeding/watering, add water until you see the very first indications of runoff...that will ensure you're soaking the pot. Come back 1 hour later, water the same amount again and you'll be good to go for at least 3 days.

thanks ill try that in the morning as its drying out within couple of days of watering! i forgot to mention also when i water it i get runoff as soon as its poured in so im putting in about 3 ltr until its heavy again!

are there roots growing out of the bottom yet? and how big is the po it's in now?

not sure if there are rots at the bottom as i haven't taken it out. its in 10l pot at the moment which is i think about 2.2 gallons. from what Jorge Cervantes says its roughly a gallon per month and this will be 3 months total for the grow!

If it's root bound usually the roots will grow out your drain holes in the bottom of the pot.........and you don't have to take it out

Yeah, look in your drain holes, if you don't see roots popping out, you're probably fine...and Jorge's rule of thumb is based around ideal circumstances...I'd say you're in "make it work" mode now that you realized it's not an auto. The fact that your soil is turning into a dried out block of concrete is what would bother me more; mulch will help with that, but maybe try to cultivate the top a bit and see if you can loosen it up without damaging anything. Promix tends to do this if you don't add any perlite, so does SS#4...

IMO I would reveg her then let her get over the transplant stress then flower away. Repotting during flowering will cause stress and you don't want that in flower.

so did you go 12/12 light schedual with her..

Ok thanks for help everyone! There are no roots at the drain holes as of yet.
I will keep an eye on her and get some mulch! I watered her today and she seems to take water better! Oh and she is on 12/12 goauto66!
