Can I just recromend everyone who grows autos in a tent and dries there buys a second light like a 250w cfl. It's such a lovely thing being able to start seeds 2weeks before the tents grow finishes and potting up into the tent at 2weeks. With 8week strains I'm only waiting 6 weeks and it feels like 4 because 2weeks towards every ending grow i start a next lot off. Lol sorry I'm awake crazy times as I'm ill and just smiled to myself thinking my girls are already 3 weeks this weekend.

That's what I do. I have a small veg setup here in the corner of my office where I start new seedlings about 3 weeks before the current crop is finished. I like to have them sexed and ready for transplant by the time the others have finished flowering. That way I can keep my LEDs just for flowering and turn them over every 8 weeks or so. The bulb burned out in the 175 watt MH on Monday and rather than spending $60 on a new bulb I decided to replace the MH with a 250 watt, 6500k CFL. Waiting on delivery of it today. That will take me up to a total of 342 watt of CFLs for veg, which should kick butt.

how much you pulling with your grows when the plants have done 3weeks under less light? do you hit closer to the veg light or flower light? ive always said ill do 3weeks but always ended up shoving mine under the hps after 2weeks. its just a good way to get a quick smoke and try different strains as there are so many i wanna try lol

I grow regulars mostly so start them in cut off half gallon juice containers, which do nicely for the first 3-3.5 weeks or until they sex. Then I transplant to 3 gallons pots and move them under the LEDs. By the time I transplant I usually have at least 6 nodes and the plants, depending on the strain, are in the 5-7" range in height. Again, depending on the strain and phenos, my yields are generally in the 45 - 60 gram range. I've gotten as high as 90 off of some.

Yes, all I grow indoors are autos. So far my top yielding strain has been Mi5. Those where what gave me the 90 grams.
IMO the key to high yields is getting them as big as possible in veg. I'm not a fan of starting plants in their final pots. I find by starting them in smaller ones I can feed more often in veg as the juice containers don't take as long to dry out. I'm growing in straight Pro Mix, which only has starter nutes. So I'm able to give a mild, 1/8 strength feeding at about day 6-7, and 1/4 strength by the 2nd feeding, usually around day 12 -14. I wouldn't recommend doing this if your growing in a soil that contains amendments like casting, guano or composted manure.

Yep. I find the 'rapid' ones are only rapid because they have selected for early flowering. Thus they have cut the veg time but not the flowering. The real test is grams per square meter per day. Because the very small ones take just as long to flower, it favors growing plants with a longer growth period.
My plants move as on a conveyor belt, rather than a batch system. Unsexed babies at one end of the tent, those approaching harvest at the other. Babies are pushed up against one side on a platform to keep everything level. I don't move my light for any one plant, if something is growing too big, it gets topped.
I am loling hard at "recromend." All I keep hearing is Scooby Doo asking me the question.
I am partial to Diesel Ryder for a new auto grower. She popped my auto cherry about 5 years ago and was THE most forgiving plant that I have ever grown. I am almost positive that her PPM and Ph were off the entire time due to the fact that I had neither meter back then. With that said, I managed a total of 4 oz from two plants in 65 days.

Is a 250w cfl the same as a 250w hps in regards to veg...I know people say the buds aren't as dense but if buds aren't developing yet will it just grow the same? My girls are the moment are huge lol I'm thinking too big I mean they start to really kick off growing at the 4th and 5th week right?
