Hi again
so i was reading a thread some where that mentioned about starting to remove some leaves during the flushing process i think to help with getting the last of the light to the bud or something...is this a good idea???? i thought the plants needed the stuff thats left in the fan leaves?????.
any help would be great thanks

It's really to late to remove leaves now, that should have been done earlier when the buds where doing most of there growing,so I would just leave them for the plant to use for final nutes.

I personally slowly start to remove them once they are all milky to get as many Amber as I can over the course of ripening.seems to work well for me.But some disagree ofcourse.imo, there is no real big deal at that point as long as your not going crazy that is.,and just opening up a few spots on your plants.Best of luck.I did that with my recent Tangelo grow and it was fan damn tastic imo."AFN smoke out""AFN smoke out""AFN smoke out""AFN smoke out"Made for some very Amber Buds for me.

getting light to the buds does nothing to help photosynthesis , getting light to leaves does , so why pull them ? dont answer

stress induced ripening , you miss out on a bit of extra yield

Green76--removing leaves near/few days before harvest is really a personal choice. If the plant is mature, slowly, removing leaves is not going to flip the plant or cause big issues. It would if done early on. The leaves are the sugar factory. So, naturally, as the plant drinks just water it will begin to expend its energy and in the end will have plenty of reserve--even after two weeks. It would take many weeks for the plant to expire and it would use up all its internal resources.
I may have mentioned such in response to a thread. Someone was interested in removing leaves towards the end of flowering.

During the last week--if a plant is leaf heavy--I will begin removing big old fan leaves. Then a day or so before a 24 hour dark period (do this because of low RH and gives plant some pre-harvest live curing time) begin removing as many leaves as possible--by hand--excepting bud leaves. In fact, one of the major seed breeders out of the Netherlands recommends several days of dark. If I lived in a better environment probably would not need a dark period.

I might also mention that the buds do need light. They also have leaves that photosynthesize and nourish the flowers--in addition, to protecting and defending itself from predators. Rosenthal the leading cannabis expert--constantly reminds readers in his books to get light to the buds.

Here is a HT article--the author mentions removal of fans towards end of flush. http://www.hightimes.com/read/key-points-harvest-time

remember , hightimes will publish ANYTHING good or bad , i prove over and over why leaves need to be kept right until the end , if you dont keep them you will never see the final growth explosion , bud/sugar leaves contribute a small fraction of photosynthesis , an extremely small fraction

:smokeit::peace: in a perfect grow certainly.but for my lil ole T-5 n stuff, lightly thinning em out as flower progresses ,I just have to politely disagree cuz I prove to me that works for me each time.done that leave em all on thing , n got less yeild lower down.soooo off comes some sun leaves here n there..yup!worked,they hardened up and got a lil nicer."AFN smoke out" so to me thats confusing and contradictory as a rule.as they say in the military, the book is a guide, not a how to book.use it as the best to your ability as to what you hold true.adapt to your grow environment, there are no hard n fast set rules on that short of dont strip your plants like some think.its a slow process.
