Will removing the glass improve the spread at all, or can anyone explain why some prefer to remove it? I'm wondering if it would remove some of the intensity at the center of the tent?
The glass will absorb some light but I imagine removing it would also aide in cooling. But the lenses on the diodes themselves determine the beam angle and spread. Raise the light higher to increase the spread and lower center intensity.
bang on advice. it does help a lot, removing that glass screen does aid cooling and slightly improves the output as the leds reflect light and heat back at themselves ,,,,I removed the lenses on the grown northern ms0006 for that exact reason, to get a better spread of light, reason being, four plants under that led with the lenses all lean towards the middle, take the lenses off, no lean.
plus moisture can build up behind those secondary lenses which I will say are a nightmare to remove as they are all loosely held down by its cover plate.
oh and my height was 21 inches which for seedlings is good enough to stop light stunting.
the only benefit to having that glass cover is too stop stuff getting to the leds themselves,
