Hey all,

I have a few grows under my belt now and have been using a 600w HPS in a 1m x 1m space. Usually I cram 4 plants in there and the 600 watter has been great. Yield is good, density is good and temps are OK for the majority of the year. I'm in the UK so there's only a few weeks of the year where temps get out of hand.

My only real complaint with it is the running cost. It's huge and I feel like i'm basically pissing money away running this thing, when I could just spend the never ending electricity bill on an LED.

Which leads me to my question... what on earth should I get!?

With so many options out there it's extremely confusing for a noob like myself. It seems like everyone on here is massive fan of cobshop lights, and whilst they look great, shipping to the UK is prohibitively expensive. I'm not going to get into assembling or building anything, I just want something I can plug in and be done. I'd rather learn about plants than lights!

My main concern is finding something which will truly replicate the power of the 600w whilst ideally halving the running cost. Should i be looking at a board, cobs, or something else?

So far the Viparspectra PAR600 looks decent, the price is very attractive, but are they any good?

The top end of my budget is £500 including shipping but obviously less would be ideal.

I'd very much appreciate any feedback.

Thanks dudes!

I think the cheapest option would be 8 x qb132's. Driven at max would be 600 watts for about $500ish. The aluminum frame, wire, hangers, junction boxes, plugs, wagon connectors(?), drivers, and 2 packs of 4x qb132's. DIY seems to be where it's at for growers rather than pre built lights unless you aren't comfortable building then I would go with cobshop.net, timberled, marshydro sp line or something like that.

Me vs 00 Seeds Autos CocoDTW600w

Thanks dudes, as I said, I'm not really comfortable messing around with DIY electrics, so i really would rather buy something that's good to go. As I'm in the UK Cobshop is too expensive due to shipping and customs.

Been looking at the Grown Northern Telos 8. Any thoughts on that? Seems to be pretty decent and within budget.

I believe @TaNg is using one. And I wanna say @archie gemmill also but maybe smaller one if they make.

I would be looking at either a cob, boqrd or strip fixture.
Something that is efficient with a good spectrum and covers a 4x4 area nicely.
You will need a fixture that runs about 400w any more and your not saving much electricity costs and any less you will lose yeild.
In the uk are options are limited but there are some great led comanys.

Gn telos 10 is their biggest fixture at 300w and covers 1m2 in flower.
It costs 520 quid.

You could get a samsung board/stip kit made by diyleduk or boards from hlg uk as chronic mentioned above.

Viparspectra are ok but if i had a 500quid budget you can get a way better light than that.
