Hi ya ok as some of you might already know from introduction page Im new to auto flowing plants. Ive got 5 big Buddha blue cheese automatic seeds growing at min there on week 7 In a 4ft by 7ft room and full height ceiling I have a modded Wilma 4 system which is fully drainable via bottom drain as Ive got the system raised off the floor on a DIY stand I built. The Wilma 4 has a 600w light powered by the Lumatek 600 Watt Dimmable Digital Ballast in Super Lumens mode and the soil has a 400w light above it. Im also using a 60lt halia pond pump which puts in plenty of oxygen which the roots love and also I upgraded water pump to the mc1000 biggest they do with an inline filter and an 8 dripper system so each pot gets 2 drip stakes each Im using the blue sticks for the flooding drippers and im using two dripper stakes per pot to get more oxygen into top of roots it seemed to help improve yield with my old uk exodus cheese grow so I stuck with same system but without the scrog shelf this time. Ive also drilled loads of holes in bottom of the top tray in Wilma system were pots sit on so roots can go straight down into rez I managed to stop the clay pebbles falling through pots and into water by using 2 layers of nft root spreader mat in bottom of pots it did a perfect job plus since using root mat I noticed u get a lot more roots coming out pots and in to the main res. I will get some photos up of the mods to Wilma 4 when this grow finishes. Last time I used this system I had a scrog net above the plants and pulled 21 oz. from one 600w hps grow lux bulb in a 100cm by 140cm room which was big plants but these autos are looking miles bigger. Anyway back to the grow the 5th plant is in canna professional + soil in a 35ltre plaster bucket and its on same strength as the ones in Wilma only difference its fed every 3rd day and watered the other two days they was all started on same day but Id say soils a week ahead now because it flowered just over a week earlier than the ones in Wilma which I think was down to modded Wilma roots needed to hit bottom of main rez before it started flowing. The soil one is drinking about 2ltres a day and plants in Wilma drinking 30ltres between the 4 of them every 2 days. up to yesterday they was on vitalink max bloom equal parts a + b @1ml a litre and vitalink buddy @ 1ml a litre ec was 0.8 with a starting ec of 0 its been on that for the last 3 weeks with stable ec just ph. was forever dropping to below 5.0 so to combat that I had to stop using ph. down and just leave it at 6.3 after adding nutrients and it stayed pretty stable till it got down to last 5 to 10 litres in res which is when Id usually do a full res change anyway. I started off in veg at 20/4 light cycle then because they seemed to be getting to tall I changed the time down to 18 hrs. thinking it might stop them stretching because no matter where reflector was buds just carried on past reflector so in the end I had to put the 600w reflector directly to the ceiling of grow room so they wasnt touching bulb anyway I ended up with monsters from what it said on seed bank site and from reviews they was only meant to be small 1 ft. plants lol thats why it took me almost a year to try them out because I didnt think it be worth the extra cost in light hrs. but all I can say is Im glad I gave them a shot now the smells are out of this world up to now Ive had train wreck type smell bit of lemon and orangey smell but no blueberry or cheese smell yet but from all the smells up to now Im really looking forward to tasting them at the end.

Well yesterday I went to my local hydro shop to buy some top shooter or ATAMI Bloombastic but after a long chat with one of the lads in there he told me about some new nutrients they was literally just putting on shelf as I got there which was joint created by growell and a few chemistry professors at Sheffield university were there tested loads of flowing boosters and additives and come up with their own new boost collection which is called SHOGUN fertilisers. As Im already in 7th week he said stop using vitalink buddy and just use vitalink bloom a+b and the shogun sumo boost, and the shogun pk warrior 9/18 they come in 250ml, 1ltre and 5litre bottles he told me to just try a small bottle to see what you think if you like how they work get the big bottles next time so I fought why not give it a go anyway as advised I put shogun warrior @0.5ml per litre and shogun sumo boost @ 1ml a litre then top up with your vitalink bloom a+b till u get to required ec so I added 2ml of each giving me ec of 1.0 next day my ec had dropped to 0.8 and ph. was 5.8 and plants almost drank res dry so they drank twice as much water on new feed and buds have swelled up on the Wilma and the soil as doubled in size and gone solid usually it would take a week and even then they wouldnt get this hard using vitalink buddy and top shooter so I decided to go back to the shop and get the big bottles as it works out a lot cheaper buying 1 litre than 4 bottles of 250ml.

I noticed the blue cheese in soil didnt have any thc over the leafs day before i used new feeds but two days on shogun and the buds are now more frosty than Ive ever had with any of my old photo plants in the past so it has to be the shogun working its magic. Shop told me it was going to blow my mind how they respond to it but i just didnt realise how much better they would be anyway now for some photos first up the soil then it be on to the jungle lol reminds me of a BBC British TV program called My Family with Nick and his Christmas tree business in his parents front living room lol there that tall I need a ladder to see plants at back of room lol. Anyway if anyone has any questions or comments please type away Ill be more than happy to reply.

happy growing :)

New Range of Shogun Nutrients

I forgot to say room temp is 23degrees lights on and 19 lights off room humidity is between 45 - 55% and res temps in wilma are 21. It was only when i first started seeds in system i had rez temps going over 25 since plants got more leaf coverage to protect from light rez temps have stayed stable. anyway i just fought id add that bit in to let u know incase u was wondering.

New Nutrients im using for this grow.

plant update day 54 Help needed with Ph issue please

afternoon all

ill start off with the Blue cheese in soil shes doing great at min about 85% brown hairs and milky triches ive stopped feeding the SHOGUN 9/18 warrior pk boost now after a week as shes slowly yellowing up her fan leafs. Ive now gone on to the SHOGUN Dragon Force @ 4ml litre and the SHOGUN Sumo Boost@ 2ml litre ill do this for the next 7 days then ill give them a week flush with just water should take them just up to the 10 week mark which should give them plenty of time to pile on some more weight.

Now on to the 4 blue cheeses in the wilma system. well wot can i say lol there doing my head in there growing ok apart from a few leaf tips curling up where they are by the light nothink much i can do about that because reflectors already at the ceiling.

ok my main problem is ph dropping but stable ec not sure what to do next

yesterday
I fill it up set my ec to 0.8 and ph says 6.2 thats at say 6pm by 12am ec would be 0.8 but ph would be 5.8 by 1am it dropped to 4.8 still stable ec but it drunk 10 litres so because ec was still stable i topped res up with 10 litres of same strenght feed that they had at the last res change it brought Ph bk up to 6.2 but with in 2hrs ph dropped again to 4.8 but this time plants only drunk a few litres of water so i emptied some water out and added plain water to bring ph bk up again.

Today

Checked them at 1pm and it was bk down to Ph 4.3 but this time ec had slightly dropped to 0.7 so i did a whole res change again and by 6pm it was bk down again to 4.8 but still ec stayed 0.8 this time so ive emtyed res and put plain water in with oxyplus @ 1ml litre i was planning on leaving this for 24 hrs to see if that would help but after an hr its almost drunk half of res and looking like its gonna need another changed before i go to bed. I dont think Ph dropping is down to root rot as ive checked all the roots and there a lovely pearly white colour and they dont feel like theres any slime on them. Res temps are 22c.
ive checked ph pen in calibration fluid just in case it needed recalibrating but it was spot on so its not that.

i can either continue feeding pk booster for another 2 weeks doing full res changes 2-3 times a day with out the topping up cus ph stays stable for a good 6-8

Or i could just cut my loses and stick the SHOGUN Dragon Force in for a week to ripen up the plant and just finish grow early just to get it down and go bk to single plant system i knew there might be chance id run in to probs cus of using 4 seeds not cuttings the wilmas designed for plants from same parents really so they all feed the same.

if any one can offer any thoughts or solutions much appreciated

forgot the photos lol heres some of the plants and also brought me self a pop up 100 litre budbox water butt and the Shogun Dragon force nutrients which it says

SHOGUN Dragon Force has been designed to help you set up a huge grand finale towards the end of your crop by delivering a massive final boost that no other product can match! This expertly formulated late flowering feed is used in place of your regular nutrients for the final two weeks before harvest, forcing fruits and flowers to undergo an incredible ripening effect and also increase in size and weight way beyond their normal capacity. Like an extra gear for your plants, SHOGUN Dragon Force will significantly improve your harvest at a time when growth typically tends to start slowing down! Use with Sumo Boost for the best results, at a rate of 2-4mls per litre of nutrient solution.

anyway thx for looking

Hi everyone just a small update the 4 plants have been on 25 litres of water with just oxyplus for 24 hrs and ph as only dropped from 6.4 to 6.0 since it was done last night and they have drunk roughtly 15 -20 litres in total usually when waters this low ph would be 4.8 at least so not sure if its vitalink bringing ph down or the new shogun boost nutrients im using because its stayed more stable over night with out having feed or if its just somethink im doing wrong im gonna fill rez up with some more plain water and just add some more oxyplus see how they are tonight and hopefully by then someone in here can give me some advice much appreciated rizzla2008:)

update day 55

ok been to growell to try and sort this ph problem out while i was there they phoned the company that made the wilma system to askl them if they come accross this problem this is what they told us over the phone

right - apparrently, the reason the ph is dropping so much is actually a factor of how well your plants are performing and how much of the PK they are uptaking.
so that's good - it indicates that you have very good plants at this stage.
The effect should be temporary and using silicon will significantly help buffer this effect. it's also a factor of how soft your water is - stopping aeration in your standing tank will again help reduce the effect. top up res with ph water adjusted to 6.6 when you mix, then as the pH falls away, use dilute silicon to re-rasie that value it should keep it more stable for you and stop u having to throw away last 10 litres when it goes lower than pump.

so they told me to add the Silicon first, & pH adjust to 6.5, then add your nutes & boosters, the silicon will help buffer the pH

so im gonna see how the girls do on this silicon and let u all know in the next day or two in case it helps others out as ive seen a lot of people with same symtoms on other forums so could be helpfull i didnt relise silicon raised ph either till he told me on phone.

anyway thx for popping in

update day 57

Hi everyone just a quick update finally pH issues are sorted ive got pH levels reading 5.8-5.9 constant now and topping up res daily with same full strength and pH seems to be sticking to the set levels so the shogun silicon sorted it out.

I have also had to put the drip feeds on 15 min every hr as one of the front plants in the Wilma system had roots blocking the holes in bottom and sides of pots so water was not draining as quick as the other 3 so ive stuck them on a timer for 15mins on and 45 off seems to of sorted it out for now.
girls have started putting on the weight again now as the pH as been sorted and also noticed a few brown hairs coming out so id say there catching up with the soil now as a week ago soil was at this stage only difference is the hydro's got a lot more green left in leafs compared to soil at this stage so i still say i can get another 2 or 3 weeks out of hydro so should have some nice buds.

just wondering is it OK to remove the undergrowth around bottom of stem because its starting to get awkward when topping up or should i just leave them. im sure i read somewhere u cant take leafs or undergrowth off like u could with photo plants so if someone could give me advice that be great.

thx Rizla2008:420:
