Lighting Roleadro 400 watt cob led

Good to know my friend, thank you. I'm looking to upgrade my t5 in my little tent on the cheap. Unfortunately I do not mess with anything electrical lol.

Me either! I have this strange premonition of catastrophe whenever I even go near an outlet! :haha:

Lol, i bet you could build one easily !

I tagged @BigSm0 because of his expertise. building one sounds worse than it really is .
Seriously I'm lucky I can get everything plugged in correctly to the power strip on the timer lol. If I was electrical smart I think I could build some sweet lights cheap and make a couple bucks, but I'm not. Next time I get 10× ebay bucks I'm going to grab one of those cheap ones and try it out. Gotta be better than my 2ft 8 bulb t5 panel. And if it sucks then I guess I'll be trying to get electrical smart and upgrade it lol.

The one in the middle's a 400W Roleadro COB ...

The two outer ones are 300W Roleadro 'normal' LEDs - dimmable.
As yet untested .. but I'm committed..!

Don't be frightened guys, electricity is your friend..!!

Glad you are considering diy bro! I am happy to help any way i can. For a 2×2 I would do a 4 cob square shape driven softly, and make sure it is dimmable. With your height restrictions, softer spread out light would be your best bet.

The two "400" watt Roleadro cob lights I'm running were the 99.00 lights found on Amazon. They actually use around a little less than 200 watts so that's a better number to really go by for output.

I agree there is a lot of bait and switch going on in led advertising. And it is harmful to the industry at large.

For the money that these cost I figured I could get a grow or two done with them and either diy Cree cobs using the drivers, heatsinks, fans, housing, etc. from these lights; or purchase a top shelf light like the Amare p300.

They seem to be working alright so far in spite of my ham handed grow skillz. However, I will reserve my complete judgement until after the grow is finished.

Not that it won't grow or do a good job but take them for face value and nothing more. Some real good info listed above and I like where this forums heading. Efficiency

To simplify the above comments a little. Most of us cob users buy cobs that range anywhere from 12-50 dollars each and run them around 50 watts each. They are taking a $.50-2.00 cob and running it 4 times harder. For the price the light is built as cheap as possible and will not last if it's run that hard. If it's claimed to equal a 400w and draws less that's a huge exaggeration too.

Companies like this are actually hurting people more than helping. They are jumping on successful lighting tech and ruining people's experience with the cheapest version of the best thing going. @Dudeski u know bro anytime.:toke:

you probably worded it a bit better than me so thanks! :P

100%^^ from the research ive done when making my own light i would guess that 2 COB's running at 400W would be running at such a high temp and poor efficiency your probably better off just using a HID light...

Try 1825...
