Might as well get this thread started... It's been a tumultuous start to our photosensitive grow this year. All the seeds germinated but some didn't come out of the soil. Then one seedling croaked. :hot: Now I think I have a handle on how it's shaking out.

Here are the surviving 9 seedlings that surfaced 4/29, making them about 2.5 weeks old.

In order: One lonely Amnesia Haze, 3 White Dragons, 3 LA Cheese (la confidential x cheese), 2 NY Purple Diesel

I planted the germinated seeds in Jiffy pots (peat) filled with FF Jah Warrior and after they surfaced I shuffled them outside in the sun during the day and inside at night.

All were showing by 4/29. 5/3 I planted one of each strain I planned into 5 gal smart pots filled with Roots Organic soil out in the yard. I hadn't realized I potted them so early! LOL They took all day sun just fine tho which is what I wanted to check. I planted one of each strain in 7 gal pots on 5/9. Just today planted the last LA Cheese into a 5 gal pot that held an Amnesia Haze until it croaked days ago. This is why they are all different sizes! :roflcry: One White Dragon is still in a Jiffy Pot because I've been germinating and attempting to germinate replacements for the seeds that didn't pop and the one that died, and was HOPING to have a replacement for it also.

Aaaanyhoozle, I have 2 Jack Cheddar germinated and in Jiffy Pots as of yesterday morning. Hopefully I won't forget about them and let them dry out like I did some of the other potential replacements... Sheesh! It's already SO LATE to be getting seedlings out for growing outside I think. These last two will barely have 6 or 7 weeks to veg before flowering, but it's better than not having any replacements I guess.

Couple last things - I have a Blim Burn Farm Auto AK growing with my auto group right now that hasn't flowered yet - it's day 42 or so for it. I think it might be a regular plant, which will fill the last spot in our photo grow if it is. :D

I don't expect to be updating this thread much for now - I have my hands busy with the autos and these are such comparatively slow growers. Just wanted to get the thread started before they were toooooo old... They all got their first 1/2 strength veg nutes today!

Right on, botlowsky - I'll look for your thread to follow you, too. I've been hearing good things about HighRise, gonna have to check it out! Thanks for subbing. :D

I'll have new pics up later today - it should get a little more exciting soon... :smoke:

OK, today instead of grouping the photos by strain, I'm going to go by size. For now I think that's more aesthetically appealing than seeing the smaller ones I stunted in with their larger siblings. Let's see what happens...

The infants: Jack Cheddar seedlings that are 4 days old.

Now all the rest of these are the SAME AGE, which is just over 3 weeks. I'm so embarrassed! :help: The largest ones I planted in 5 gal. seeds when they were about the size of the Jack Cheddar babies! I was checking to see if the yard had too much sunlight for little ones, and clearly they did just fine. Sorry I waited to plant the next ones in the larger pots, but they are coming along. Really no excuse for not getting the two smallest ones going much sooner except that they were wimbly and I was trying to replace them. Reminds me of a saying about a bird in the hand... Anyway, living and learning!

M'kay, now when you look at the first 3 week olds and then look at the last 3 weeks old you see why I feel like such an ASS! :face: But OH WELL - it is what it is, and here we are and I'll move forward now without dwelling on it because wow how boring...

SOOO next pics will probably be of the Jack Cheddar in the 5 gal pots!!

OH - one last thing - there are 11 plants there and I can have 12 flowering at any one time. This is a picture of the BlimBurn Farms Auto AK that is in the autoflower section but clearly isn't autoflowering! So this one may be the biggest one in the photo crop, however if it's a male or something I have a Critical + Auto seed that I'm itching to plant. So much trouble getting the final line-up this summer. :joint:

Thanks for reading along! :smoke::bong:

How-do! :howdy: Apologies for getting here so late, Mz. S'.... That is one tasty line up!...a nice mix of I's, S', and hybrid goodness :D Now, about those seedlings, given that they all had the same treatment, etc., clearly not all seeds are created equal,...which is normal, actually; I had 2 that cracked and shooted just fine, but after emerging they just got left in the dust!... You did your part, luv, the rest is the usual craps-shoot...I think you were unlucky! That BlimBurned plant has gone photo-AWOL on you, for sure; just keep watching it for dangle-berries,... with any luck it'll sex out right, and you'll still get some KGB from it! If not, you got your next gal waiting... Besides, it's very early in the game here, so time will tell! ... Off to your other thread for catch up time! :buds:

Just popping in with a couple of pics:

5.26 photos left.jpg5.26 photos rt.jpg

Got the Jack Cheddar into the 5 gal pots last Sunday.

Some of the larger ones are working on 4th nodes. I'm planning to top some and FIM some, and leave some alone in that respect.

Last year I let what turned out to be the largest plant get up to 7 nodes, then cut it back to above the 2nd. Huge cut! Winning move! Turns out a severe cut produces a bushier or heavier producing plant. Rumor? Not sure, but it turned into a 4'6" BUSH that yielded a half pound. :pimp: Not that impressive compared to some, but it did so much better than all the other plants. I had issues with clones flowering every time a freaking cloud went over... :finger: Anyway, I'm planning to do it again this year, although the stems on some of them are so THICK already... Which is why I'm going to FIM some toooo. Fimming makes the "4 colas" grow nice and tall but the rest of the plant grows as usual. Topping for some reason encourages the other branches to grow up and meet them for some reason, which is why they turn into bushes.

buddha bush crop 9.23.jpgBP side cola 10.5.jpgbp 10.5 budworm damage.jpg

(wow bad pics! My phone cam last year...) Last year's Buddha Passion - one pic is the bush, a bud pic shows that yucky orange dead top of some of them... THAT, my friends, is budworm damage that shows up when it's TOO LATE. Lost a bunch of our crop to them, but not a huge percentage, but still a *bunch!* I was MAD!! You can see how faded all the fan leaves are, and this was cut not long after.

Anyone else do topping or FIMMing on their photos??

Thanks for reading! :D Comments, questions?

I topped all four of my current grow trying to keep the height down in the tent. It didn't help greatly but it did promote some serious growth on the side branches though.

Those smart pots look awful empty. Any reason you didn't get a little closer to the top with the soil? I load mine right to the edge and after a few feedings the soil settles down about 1" from the top. The more soil, the more possibility for growth.

Hey 420 thanks for stopping by!

There is actually no reason at all to leave so much room in the pots! Wow - it's my first "container" grow this summer and I'm honestly not sure why I didn't fill them completely! I never filled my houseplants all the way to the top because I didn't want a mess in the house, obviously not a concern outside! LOL Thanks for mentioning it!

I do find I have to keep topping off the soil as they get watered and it condenses or something, next time i have the soil out there I'll fill them up!
