I have no clue what it means when a seed immediately sinks when doing the soak. I dropped a few seeds into a glass to start my grow and one just sunk right away, does that mean its no good?

Not necessary. It just means it's heavier then the water around it which will probably happen eventually when the seed rehydrates.
I thought it was good thing if they sank instantly, its all new still learning.
But 2 out of 11 of my seeds sank instantly, the 2 beans never germinated, go figure maybe a coincidence.
3 different seed banks, the 9 others all floated for 12 to 14 hrs then would sink with the slightest touch of my finger.

One sank immediately, the other two sank in less then an hour, weird. I contacted the seed banks tech support, they told me their ready for the paper towel. I got my fingers crossed, all I can do.I thought it was good thing if they sank instantly, its all new still learning.

An old trick is to scarify the shell with sandpaper. roll up a 1/4 sheet of fine sandpaper around a sharpie, tape it together, slide it off, put 1 finger on 1 end, load a seed, put thumb on the other end and shake it around a bit. Helps to let the water soak in through hard shells.
Just to end this saga. Not one of those 3 seeds (Tangerine Dream) ever sprouted. I have a 60% failure rate with GC seeds and that don't cut it when you coughed up $95 for 8 seeds.
My present grow was a 100% germination rate and a different supplier. Fastbuds from NASC.

I’ve had FB not germinate, and when some from the same pack did they were mutants, I contacted FB and they replaced them. So there’s that.
To be honest, I’ve tried multiple ways of sprouting. Plugs, paper towels, small pots and later transplanting. You name it. But dunking them for 24-36 hours, then just putting them in their final pot with a little humidity dome has been so much less hassle. And I’ve had 100% success. Some sink right away. Some in a few hours. And some never sink. YMMV.
