New Grower seedling weeping

Hey guys,

Finally my first ever seedlings popped up out of the ground this morning, i buggered up my first attempt at germinating and its worked this time.... I'm soooo excited i cant explain... I'm growing 2 x Dutch Passion Star Ryders.

1 question is that the first nice green leaves have just sprung out of the 10L pots that i planted them into directly after a paper towel method germination, however the leaves seem to be weeping/sagging towards the soil a little bit. I am growing them in a standard potting compost with added john innes.. It has no time release fertilizers etc and is mixed 3/1 with perlite.. I have only lightly watered the area in the middle where the seed is and sometimes only sprayed so i wouldn't have thought i had over watered but obviously dont really know..

The temp at soil height is 25C/77F and humidity is at 50% with a small 6" clip fan in the grow room, a 4 inch inline fan with carbon filter, and a passive intake. I'm using a 125w cfl lamp (6500k for veg stage) and it is abut 6" away from the pots.

I have spent hours and hours researching (mainly on this site i must say as it is amazing) and would like to think that i have sussed out most hings but obviously im a complete newbie and also so nervous about the girls now that they have showed their heads above ground!!

First off, any airflow at the seedlings? IE a fan blowing on them?

Second, to get an idea, freshly watered stick finger in soil is it damp? ok leave it alone till it feels dry. Tooth pick works great showing water retention. I would say they would do well to be allowed a dry of period. When I germ and am lazy, I wet the pot and let it dry as seedling devlops, It need little more then a drip to grow at this stage.

Third, you able to ph the water, and have an idea of the soils ph? At this stage of the grow, ph is of little value, later on it can play a huge role.

4th congrads on the germ, now you got the next 8 weeks to get seriously nervous.

hey,

Yeah i have a fan blowing on the plants. the water i'm putting in is all at ph6.3 thanks to some ph down juice as my water is ph7.5 ish and left overnight with the cap off to get to room temp etc. soil ph is at about 6.5 at the mo according to the soil ph meter i have. obviously them being in 10L pots there is a lot of soil for what is at this stage a tny seedling so i'm kinda just putting water in the centre area around where the seedling is and not all over the whole pot.

Yeah i'm well happy that they've popped their heads up!!

ok i think ive got a picture to work. obviously its still tiny as it only popped this morning but as you can see the 2 main leaves are drooping downwards
