Lighting Several Lights or Just 1 ... That's the ???

I vote for more lights, as apposed to 1 big one. The versatility alone is a no brainer, for me. In fact, do yourself a favor and cruise around this site and see what Autocobs are doing. See Arthur's post, top of page.
I dont promote site vendors because they are site vendors. Autocob might not be the best but I haven't seen better results, consistently, EVER! Factor in the savings on your elec bil. @Arthur has 9 Autocobs, 65w each, in that pic. 585w, which is almost too many, imo. I've used 5 in a 4x4 space with awesome results.

I think your lady getting wide on you is typical for re-veg. I would make the flip, sooner than later. It's nice to break records with growing 8oz, 10oz...but I'd rather grow 2 smaller plants in the same space, get just as much yield, in a fraction of the time
50w ea, 450 total... 518w @ the wall. From growth I've seen it is well above a 600 hps, maybe not quite the results of a 1000w unit.

Back in the day, if you wanted rock hard nugs, 1000w lights were a must in flower. Was running 3 in flower and a 600 and a 400 MH in the veg room... that was a decade ago...
Now with power here @ 29 cents a KWH... not an option...cheaper to buy!

I LOVE MY LEDS.

25w LED in far red spectrum. I'll probably add 4. Helps induce flowering, plant sleep, and resin production. From what I've read. Growmau5 has a neat little board available for about what I could build it for... worth trying for a run and evaluating.
I currently use 7 - 28 watt LED's that have 5 red & 3 Blue Diodes for side lighting. Wouldn't this kind of be the same thing ? The 600 watt Meizhi has a Veg & Bloom switch so I can add the red spectrum that way too. I know my equipment isn't top of the line. I'll upgrade as I go along & since a friend of mine also started growing he always buys my old equipment for about 60% of what I paid for it. That works out OK for me since I have usually used it for 2-3 grows. I still want to upgrade to either Advanced Platinum or Black Dog LED's along with a few Cobs though. I'm putting that off till I sell this house & buy a house with a full basement I can turn into a grow room. Right now everything is in a 12' x 12' room which doesn't give me a whole lot of space with 3 tents in it.

I have no idea what spectrum of light your unit puts out. If it has this area covered then... maybe

I use 2 inexpensive 300w Meizchi LED in a 2x3 and prefer it for 3 reasons.

  1. When I have to use a house fan or humidifier in my tent I can plop it on the floor and just rotate one of my 2 lights to get more an L shape to make the most of the dead space I created with equipment
  2. I like lowering one a couple inches on some smaller growing plants to increase PAR.
  3. When the LED fan starts screeching or some other issue I can survive the few days until replacement arrive
