All 4 of mine had a tap root showing ranging in length from 3 to 5 mm when they went into the seedling compost. I guess patience is a virtue I'm lacking at the moment

Patience is not the problem over here i think i had some contaminated Jiffys. I cleaned the Propagator sterilized it and now started again. But yeah with the Seeds this year its not my Luck.
