Lighting Shortening cable from ballast to reflector???

Can I shorten the cable from the ballast to the reflector, not sure if it will cause any resistance problems I have around 6 foot of cable which is in the way and would make it neater and safer if I can chop it out!! I know you can extend it but not sure on chopping it? Anyone done it or knows if I can?

You shouldn't see any problems if you chop it,With any type of electricity be it ac or dc the shorter the length of the cable the more efficient it is as the current doesn't have to travel as far
