Should we reset reputation scores back to 0, fix how rep can be given, and start clean?

I think it either needs to be done away with altogether or reset with a clear set of rules on when or how much to use it- but can that even be enforced?
Its probably not necessary but for someone new to the site it helps them know theyre gettin sound experienced advice if someone has like 1000+posts and a good amount of rep.
Just my ramblings

That's how I've always used it at any site I've visited. If someone has been a member for a good while, has a few posts and very little rep... well, grain of salt. However been around a while, have posts AND rep, I'd probably pay closer attn to what info is said.

Another thing... trophy points. Do we need points for our badges? If it came to one or the other I'd prefer reps over trophy pts to help distinguish accomplished members.

Unforunately, rep becomes a bit of a popularity contest at times, although the folks I know on here with the highest rep, ABSOLUTELY deserve it! I do agree though, that it definitely could use a little more, how should I say, vetting?? Not really sure how to fix it but I could realistically sprinkle every person with rep every day, and it wouldn't mean they have any more or less value to the forums.. As for trophies, it's a cool incentive, but I don't take it as seriously as rep..

Why not get rid of high team and auto warriors banners? Staff, admin and mod are all thats needed right. Also badges and likes too ? trophy points, post count, adios who needs em!

we could call it Auto flower/roll it up .net

For that matter what does join date tell you? Some one logs in once a year since 2012?

This is all derision to be clear :vibe:

I say get rid of it altogether.when i joined i looked more at how long someone had been here and likes received+journals=proof because on other forums i had seen that rep was just chucked around willy nilly for anything which happens here as well which gives people a false sense of greatness lol.i would rather take the advice of someone who has grown a long time and has grow journals here which show there advice is sound advice than someone with 50mill rep points who has been here 5 mins.

im for a yearly reset, and then a rep limit maybe 500 rep a month or something like that... that would help indicate current activity, and the limit will make you think 2 times before giving rep

Slightly off topic but I will take this opportunity to voice my opinion on the like button. I'm not a fan of that either.
My biggest gripe about likes is that, let's say you are asking for help. You get 10 different answers. Then everyone likes every answer. How is the OP going to decide which course of action to take, when everyone "likes" every piece of advice. I personally try to like the comments I agree with. I will not "like" that you are sick...It reminds me of facebook

[HASHTAG]#showyourbush[/HASHTAG] This is how I got my reps as I have 3 visits to my thread. Its nice to get some recognition isnt it?

I was just looking at this actually I have seen some 6 month old members with 20000+ rep points, although that person probably deserves it the amount I personally can give is only 100 rep points at the time how do you get to that much rep in such a short period?

With the move to the new AFN the AFN old schoolers lost all rep, to start fresh.
Maybe it would be good to restart fresh again, but the amount of rep that should be given out should be the same for everyone. eg. all have 100 rep points at the time. not starting with 12 points to give out and exponentially get to 2000 points.

Scrapping the whole thing would work too, but for new growers looking for the most experienced growers answer would be tuff, unless the best answer gig is brought forward and members choose what they think the best answer is...

me 2 cents!
