I couldn't find a thread directly talking about this. So I figure I will start a thread on it. If there is already one talking about this specific topic, then I'll delete it if you share the link to the thread with me. Please and thank you. :pass:

Ok! So I ordered some RAW brand Silica and I am wondering what are my options on how to use it? I understand that you can do foliar feed with it, but what else? Can I just mix some in my soil mix and let it do its thing? Would it conflict with my soils Ph? Would I have to perhaps add some coffee grounds and or peat moss to add something acidic for balance? Never used the stuff before, and my searches don't seem to give me the results I am looking for. I've googled, duckduckgo, and searched here. Thanks in advance, and I hope you are as excited about getting some outdoor growing ASAP as I am!:yay::woohoo1::smokeit::smokeout:

I've been wondering the same thing . I suspect there isn't really an easy answer because everyone grows in different mediums and amends differently. I have added this to my feeds when growing in Sunshine mix#4 as I believe it buffers PH quite well. I added silica first then my other nutrients and PH'd my water as normal. I havn't used it with my coco/perlite grows as I am a bit unsure how it will effect it.

Hey Mesa, It's my understanding that silicates aid in the plants Calcium uptake. I was also reading something just this morning about mixing order and how silicates should be first in ... then the science kicked in and flew way over my head.

Waira and the Prescription blends guy are having a science match in O1S thread  .. the answers may be hidden in the diagrams and science talk, but they'd definately be the people to get clarification on this.

My simple mind tells me that silicates would work even better for coco (which can be a calcium hog on it's own)

I'll try and grab a link to where the science talk is! ^_^

Edit: Here it is ... from the second post down. https://www.autoflower.org/threads/...eds-in-autopots-test-by-only1sky.75670/page-3

Hmmm. Yea. Sounds like I should stick to just watering it in/foliar then. I do have a decent amount of cococoir in my soil, so it might mess with the ph of my soil in a negative way.

Hey! Thanks my friend! I really appreciate that! I'll have to do some digging around over there, and see what I can find or ask some questions about it.
I didn't know that about coco coir and calcium. My soil is maybe only about half coco coir and I do have a bag of dolomite lime, but I am thinking dolomite and silica would be to alkaline for the soil? Anywho Ill go check out that thread! Thanks again!
