Has anyone ever used Botanica Silica blast? I got some and plan on trying it on my next grow. It's supossed to increase the cell structure of the stems and increase there size and strength therefore there ability to carry more nutrients and build a larger bud system.I'll post some results if I can notice any difference in my girls stem strength and size.:D:

What's up Namvet25? :D: I've been using a similar product for years on my orchids and house plants- Dyna-Grow's Pro-Tekt, and it's definitely helpful... I believe the basic ingredients are the same- Potassium silicate, but the form that ultimately gets absorbed is silicic acid....My understanding is that while Si isn't generally necessary for plant growth, it does have real benefits... basically, it helps strengthen cell walls, which in turn helps develop stronger stems, leaves and roots, and makes it tougher for invasive microbes to penetrate the cell walls,..plus can help increase heat/drought tolerance; it also helps moderate Mn and Fe levels... I like the results from it's use; several of my orchids are really prone to spotting, and regular applications help reduce this no doubt! Give'm a little Si love...:brow:

You'll definitely see a difference nam, silica is good stuff :smokebuds:

Just got a free bottle sample of HDI silicate from the local hydro store.. I haven't looked into what it does exactly.. on the bottle It said you can mix in a spray bottle and spray the plants once a week.. the guy said it does raise the ph of the water once mixed.. like anything.. I guess ph it back to limits.. ... I'm sure it's the "same type" of product.. I might mix some up and give my Dark Devil, Candy Kush, and Ministry of Cannabis (once it breaks ground and grows up a bit) a spray... I read what the benefits are .. just add one more thing to the mix.. lol..

I've never heard of foliar silica it doesn't seem readily absorb-able. Certainly Ph adjust it if you try that.

I know a lot of people use it as a natural PH-up and then humic/fulvic acid as a PH-down.

Anyone of you using it by any chance is using LED lights? Namvet25?
I read on several occasion that some are supplementing it to fight the Cal Mag def....
Any input on that?

Peace!

I personally use Rare Earth from GH for my nute mix, completely organic it contains pyrophyllitic silicate clay mixed with leonardite. It does seem to make it easier to keep the plant healthy.

torch404} ....trust me, and the manufacturers, it is....foliar is the best and fastest way to get it in there! Right where the plant needs it most,...:wiz:

Tokaite} Check with brother Robwars on that, but I don't know about the Ca-Mg thing,...I don't recall reading anything about Si influencing this, just Mn and Fe... here's a couple great links on Si, from Alan Smithees' thread....
...........
See page three: Toxicity. Waira this is your kind of document. What do you think. I am going to temper my use. Probably why plants are so green (N). http://www.cannabis.info/UK/library/...ls-of-silicon/ ......... http://www.ams.usda.gov/AMSv1.0/getf...TELPRDC5057629

In the old days they used K2SiO3 to spray adhesive solutions onto plants.

I have been using Silica Blast for 2 years now under led with autos and photos. First off if you plan on any kind of low stress training, topping, or supercropping don't use it till bloom. The cellular expansive makes the branches very strong but also hard to bend. It is a great help with heat and moisture stress as well. Its a must grow with additive as long as its used properly.....
