Indoor Small tent lighting and ventilation advice

So I'm looking at buying a 50cm x 50cm x 100cm tent to grow appox 2/3 autos depending on what I can fit in. I would like to use a cfl light but not sure how large I should go, because most if the reflectors I have seen are a min of 50cm, basically the whole iofthe tent! Does anyone's have and suggestions?
Also I'm thinking of using a 4"carbon filter and fan, would this be enough for my small grow? Better still could I get away with smaller ventaltion/ oder contol?

Thats about the size of my old cfl cab.

I had a reflector in there to start with - as you say took up a lot of room! Had a 250w 2700k CFL start to finish.
The plants grew up into the reflector either side of the bulb.

I also tried without a reflector to give myself more head room. Tied the cfl to the roof with garden wire. I didn't see any worse results for not having a reflector - although they were my first grows anyway so not sure (logic says a reflector will be better)

Other options include getting several smaller CFLs and placing them around your cab or plant. But the one light would be easier for you.

LED's are probably a no go (due to the amount of distance you need between the plant tops and light) unless you can find some really small ones like 50watters - There's a chap here using them with success - let me know if your interested and i;ll try and find a journal.

A 4" carbon filter and fan (made for purpose) will be ideal mate!

It the one area that i wouldnt skimp on - the plants WILL smell when flowering

Why not something like a DS60 tent - they're 60cm x 60cm by about 180cm - the extra head room would be really handy!!

I was gonna try and control the hight by lsting the plants, would this be enough do ya think? I would love to have a taller tent but I'm restricted by the small where it's going. Cheers for you help mate

Yeah, you can definately grow in that size! i did for years

Is 100cm the absolute maximum height you can afford? There are also 60x60x120cm tents available. I'm using one at the moment.

If you go for a 100cm tall one I would also go for CFL, as blue said with LED you need quite some distance between the light and plants. To control the height you can use LST or scrog. I believe scrog is a bit easier in a cramped space since you don't have to move the plants in and out of the tent. With CFL and some training you should have no problem growing 2-3 plants in that space.

I'll have to have a re measure see if it could fit. Will it get too hot if the reflector fills most of the space tho? Also will I need to keep my fan on 24/7?

Hi all, some really good informative posts there, so ill add mine,

In My opinion, Distance between LEDs and plants do differ with type of LED used.

I know they all say it should be at least 8 inches away during flowering etc.. and it is good advice! but some LED can be put very close, i like to push them to the max anyway!

Also Great in fact for keeping your plants short if that's what you want, Stunting them on purpose is quite useful aswell sometimes.

Hence the one in the pic being so close, 1 inch away! so far nothings burnt,,,,,,interesting stuff, i even had a plant come to one inch away from my GN Ms-0006 and all it did was bleach the top bud white

Made it loads easier to see the ambering Trichs!

So go for it bro, its all about the experimenting youself innit with the help of this excellent forum.

Great question dude, bought a clone tent last month thing is awesome 60x60x160 top part T5 lighting and a 125w cfl below.

Like it so much I'm now gonna swap out my Budbox 1x1x1:80 and replace with 2 60x60x1:60 so have been looking at a few lately.

These guys I have the clone tent D from. Take a look some unusual sizes and multi functional. Also some 60x60s and 80x80 by either 140 160 180 alsorts.

With these tents what is the maximum fan power I should use? I will not be having an intake fan. Cheers for all the help guys
