Hello all!

This is my first grow EVER! So excited!! Got 2 fem auto widow cheese seedlings in 3 gallon pots (FFOF). My cabinet is mylar lined 3 sq. ft with 2x6500k/2800 lumen CFLs and 1 2700k 1300 lumen all positioned between 4 and 6 inches above my babies 24/0. For ventilation, I have 3 pc fans (size?), 2 are intake and 1 is output. There's also a desk fan for circulation.

I germinated "Judy" and "Liza" in a paper towel between plates. Had ~1/4" tap roots from both by 18 hrs. Planted seeds, and 36 hrs later, both had broken through soil. At 48 hrs in the ground, both are about an inch high.

We're maintaining between 55-68% humidity with an average temp of 79 degrees f.

A few questions for you all:

1. Is this lighting adequate for now?
2. Are things progressing at a normal rate? According to marijuana-seeds.nl, they should finish 70 - 80 days from seed.
3. How do you post pics to this forum? I'm going to attempt in a second post shortly, but I wanted to get this info online for sure first.

Any general comments on anything I've mentioned will be hugely appreciated:tiphat: Sooo much to learn, but so interesting! Hopefully, it will be personally rewarding as well!

Cheers and :peace:,
Jenny

Congrats, Welcome and great looking cab!

Yes, everything looks to be progressing perfectly :)

Never used CFL's so IDK if that's enough light or not...appears to be. I know I had great luck with tight quarters and mylar
(and not a ton of light) But there's a sub-forum for that ;)

RH and Temp are wheelhouse....

Good Luck!

Thanks, Trapper! I hope I have great luck, too. Never grown anything in my life. My yard is a total wasteland, and I don't even have houseplants!! Appreciate the props on the cab, too. I've never built (or even really assembled anything) successfully, either. This is a whole new adventure on many levels. Hoping to reach great heights ;)

Hi Jenny and welcome--

I am a cabinet grower, too. (Just completed my second grow, same 3 sq ft but not as tall as yours.)

You said you have two pc fans for input and one for output. Assuming they are all rated for the same airflow, this configuration will pressurize the cabinet and not give you the best airflow. This creates problems for odor and maybe temperature control. If this is important I think you'd be better off having 2 fans output and one fan input. Better yet is usually using all fans in exhaust mode with passive intakes.

Just something to think about...

Good luck with your grow!!

Thanks, Bayes! The 3 fans are identical, so I guess it might be problematic with all of them on in their current config. We're so early into this that there will be much tweaking, I'm sure. Good to know that if heat or stank become issues that I have something to adjust.

While testing the cab with nothing growing, this is the set-up that worked best as far as temp and humidity: one intake turned off (passive?); one intake "off" re electricity but powered in from humidifier placed outside of box directly in front of fan; output powered on; circulating fan on low.

Is is this a little closer to what you're describing?

Thanks, again for the input. Super appreciated!! Please let me know what you think.
Cheers :tiphat:,

Hi all!

Not much to report today. Still just 2 leaves on each plant. No noticeable upward growth.

Decided to try adding more light: 2x5000K, 1300 lumen cfl to the side of each plant. That brings us up to a total of 9500 lumens (2x6400k, 2x5000k, 1x2700k) in 3 sq ft of space. Any thoughts? Is this enough for this stage of growth?

Cheers :tiphat:,

Nice journal Jenny, I think what you have lighting wise is cool for veg, but I would look at adding more red for flower-all looking really great so far though and awesome cab. :Sharing One:

I use 15 23watts and 8 42s and it seems to work well in a 4x4 area. That puts out like 47000 lumens, i still use it for my photoperiod plants and a hps_mh for my autos.

Thank you, my friend! Input is much appreciated. Still tweaking, but my thoughts today are that when we get to flower to reverse the light set-up spectrum-wise. :peace:
