Soil PH. Help

So I bought this ph meter for 12$ on amazon. It got good reviews. Today I decided to play with it. It's got 3 functions. Ph. Light. And moisture.

The PH is reading about 7.

What can I do to get it down to 5 or 6? Isnt that what it should be at?

I had to go through a few meters before I got one that actually worked. As recommended a lot of places on this forum is the accurate 8. Not saying that yours doesn't work forsure. But the 3 I got before accurate 8 all where stuck on 7.. So try it out in different soils first to make sure that's not the issue. Try your lawn if you have too.

Hey man, I got what looks like the exact same 3 way probe. Just a heads up, they supposedly take 10 minutes to stabilize the PH reading. Mine is always reads ~7.5. I have been using PH down from General Hydroponics to adjust ph down to 6.5. It must be reading right because I adjust feeding to 5 and runoff is 6.5 (measured with one of those ph pen thingys), or all my shits wrong who knows lol. I'm a complete noob so take my experience with a grain of salt

....that unit is not to be trusted,... the Accurate 8 is a nice unit for the money,... No medium should be in the 5's, except maybe coco, 5.8,... soilless peat based about low 6's, true soil mid 6's,... before any adjusting, what are you growing in? And a solid reading is called for before any tweaking of pH is done,...

... Damn, Fuxfarms soils again,... very iffy quality, especially the OF,.. HF seems to be a bit better, but OF is a problem soil I see here often,...low pH, undercooked,... Do you have a pH meter in good working order, recently calibrated? You can test the mix by making a slurry and testing the solution,... 1/2 cup soil, 1/2 cup RO/Di or other very low ppm water (critical!), mix and let sit for about 20min,... strain off and test the solution,...
