Some plant problems...

Great thanks Blue : )

I have been feeding about 1/4 of a teaspoon of organic black strap molasses to each litre of feed... here it says Molasses has Cal and Mag in it along with some other trace minerals.

But I have zero idea whether that is enough cal/mag at later stages of growth. That link is based on 2 teaspoons for humans I am gonna guess that it has very small amounts so will try and get some Epsom Salts today and if no luck locally get out tomorrow.

I have been using MaxiCrop organic Seaweed extract which may be a little the same as the alg a mic so thats why I have not been using it on top of the maxicrop seaweed stuff. I will hold off alg a mic for now and go for the Epsoms.

So far the plants grew VERY fast and healthy just now these problems start 2-3 days ago.

Will pop out soon and see what I can find : )

Always something to keep you on your toes with the herb growing game !

brown progression.jpg Here is the worsened browning.

I have some epsom salts and will apply after sun down so it does not crystalize and dry to quickly on the leaves and can be absorbed. I will try on the Auto NL plant which looks most worse for wear. I will also upload a photo of the leafs worsening browning off during the course of today.

So I drenched the plant twice last night (missing the buds) with filtered water and epsom salts, once around 7pm and again at 10pm ensuring that plenty of drips were on the fan leaves. I imagine it might take a while for any changes ?

So far the plant looks a little worse if anything.

I do wonder if being in a small pot it might be definitely watering only next time no feed just to see what happens.

Currently it seems more fan leaves exhibit the browning which is a worry cause they rapidly decline and once they are all gone, the plant can no longer grow.

Quite concerned about this now. I guess I have to wait. The plant is also yellowing up pretty fast. As a note I have noticed both the northern lights I have grown appear less deep green than all other strains despite the same feed.

It is mainly the auto northern lights, it's in a smaller pot so may be why it exhibits these problems ?

Also noting the top bud leaves are clawing ?
What does clawing leaves usually mean?

Clawing usually means they are over fed, usually too much N.

What I'm seeing isn't cal/mag but P deficiency. Cal/mag is usually small, round rust colored spots. When large areas go brown and the leaves feel crispy, P. That could either be caused by a lack of P or a pH lockout situation. Do you know your soil pH?

On the epsom salts foliar feed, 1 teaspoon per quart of water.

thx, well today these plants are really looking bad, I think it's the end, that was a very quick demise. I will check soil pH which was 6.9 at the grow start.
Today I watered with calcium tablet powdered up in case it was a calcium deficinnecy. I hope I got lucky and it adjust the pH the right way as a side effect.
Might get lucky. I have been using biobizz bloom so I think it should have plenty of P but as you say I will test ph tomorrow.

Other leaves have the dreaded browning now... Thankfully my Auto wappa are not exhibiting the same problems... which is odd in itself. (but good!)

So checked soil pH and it is 6.5 I take that it's a little too acid so I have watered again with powdered calcium in the water to bring it up. Well I can only live in hope now.

I was very much under the impression that you did not really have to be too concerned about pH in soil, I thought it acted as a buffer to organic based fertilizers which I have been using.
Maybe over time and with over fertilization (which I also through was difficult to do with organics) it might go acidic. Thats the only reason I can think of why it happened and that this NL auto is much more sensitive than the Auto wappa. Always learning but surprised to be honest.

I have found autos very sensitive compared with photo strains, I may well have overfed. 1ml is a very small amount and you can overdo it with ease if doing it by eye.

I must get a 1ml-2ml and 3ml measure. the basics and yet easy to ignore.

I suspect I have over fertilized, water only for the Auto Wappa for a couple of times and will keep and eye on them. Well at least it was the worst looking plant of the 3
in terms of yield and trichome count that is gonna be doomed. (well I hope it can pull through but not sure)

No chance you could bring it indoors under a bulb 20+ hours see if it helps. Got to be better than giving up on it.
