SOS - Newbie & Plants LOOK ILL...

[FONT=&quot]Thanks Carbon,

See your no longer a newbie...YOUR giving me advice, Expert!

But I agree, the grass is always greener. At the end of the day I'll be made up with every gram I get & I'll get better as I get more experience etc...(It must be late, I'm getting all philosophical, or more stoned!)

Flub,

Your an oracle of knowledge man. Thanks for the advice/help (again).

What you upto anyway, any grows etc? You seem to know your stuff & all that...or you waiting on your mate with the 15 BDM?

First off, spend a lot of time with your ladies. You will learn to tell what is going on. I try not to over water as this can be a major issue from what i've heard. I usually water around every couple of days. In between I do a foliage mist. You will see as I have (First timer here too) that you will get the hang of it. Don't give up. The most important thing is to do research, whether through reading books or on here. Also, keep your temperature in check. I keep my right around 80 degrees. Good luck my friend.

Hi Sugarman,

Thanks for the post.

People have been kindly giving me advice on this & other forums. The common theme is definitely ...Less is More!

Don’t worry, I won’t give up & I will getter better with experience (this is my first time after all!).

I’ve had a quick look at your threads & your plant pic looks really good. There’s all sorts of highly technical info on there, & I see some good guys have responded already.

Good luck with your grow sugarman.

Good info, thanks. Not the best soil to use but okay for now. For your next grow, look for something without sand. Weed likes a nice, loose soil and sand tends to compact it.

I suspect your pH is a little high but you'll be able to check your run off when you get your meter and find out for sure. It's likely you'll need something to lower the pH of your feeds. You can use lemon juice as was suggested, distilled white vinegar or a commercial pH down product.

Those nutrients aren't really suited for growing weed. Looking at the label I can see the NPK ratio is 7-7-7 During vegetative growth you want something with more N and less P and K, like a 8-4-4. After about 5-6 weeks when they are in full flower, then less N and more P and K, like a 4-8-8. You've probably depleted any nutrients that were in the soil by now so it's important you feed them regularly. At their age I wouldn't recommend any more than 1/2 strength. The nutrients should be mixed in with the water for more even distribution when you feed.

Hi Muddy,

Thanks for getting back to me.

Q) What soil are you using?
A) Levington Multipurpose Compost (with added John Innes)

Q) What are you pHing your water and checking the run off, if so, what are the readings?
A) Waiting on Ph reader (ordered last week), using Evian bottled water (every 3 or 4 days) & don't water so it comes out the bottom (if there are a couple of drips I stop, the pot feels heavy compaied to the non-watered one).
]

Q) Also, what brand of nutrients?
A) A cheap one! (I know) Doff liquid growmore. I only used litrally a half full shot glas (at recomended strengh), then loads of water after that, the next day there was growth but the leaves have only yellowed in the last 24/48 hours.

Also, Humidity is low 20%-25% so put dish of water in with plants & it's raised to 30%.

Hope this helps, thanks again.

Hi Muddy,

Thanks for getting back to me, I initially thought the stuff I got would be ok, but I see this is not the case!

I have been looking into it & have ordered some Biobizz Light Mix Potting Soil, Biobizz Grow & Bloom Nutrient’s. Hopefully the nutrients will help my current two plants & I will use the better quality soil for my next grow & if I re-pot these two?

I’m having trouble getting hold of a reasonably priced ph tester at the moment (the one I bought is crap), I will add some lemon juice when I next water my plants to see if that helps though...

I am concerned the plants are small for 3 & a half weeks (22days) & leaves are curled even though I am pleased the plant looks green, healthy & there is new growth? I will wait for the new stuff to arrive before I feed them & will use half strength or less to build up there tolerance etc.

I appreciate your help ‘Muddy’ & if you or any other people out there have any further advice or suggestions , please feel free to share it!

Many thanks

Hi,

for me, it looks like there is missing some moist - how often do you feed your ladies ? Don't let them get too dry in those little "cups".
As for the growth i would also recommend to put them directly into bigger pots.
If you have more soil, it would buffer better too, so your high ph would be compensated for a longer time - repotting could be a emergency measure here..it's for the better anyway :-)
The tips don't look burnt, so nutes should be fine - in the beginning the ratio isnt optimal, but should work... me thinks they're a little dry.

Just a guess from far away from a noob, but perhaps its worth checking.

Cheers

Hi kfigerm,

Thanks for the reply.

I last watered them on Monday 1st, The soil I use holds the water...that said the pots are light & I need to give them some lemon juice so will give them some water.

I've had a quick look at your threads & I see you've done a few grows & you've got one on the go now...good luck (it all looks a bit technical to me lots of tubes & wires etc...1st timer, closet grow etc).
