a420er i am liking how it seems your roots are not wrapping around. yous may find this a bit nutty , but i have alway thousght my roots were strangeling each other when they start wrapping aroung all over. i like the smart pots guys. i am sold. 100% sold. and if everything wasnt in pots finishing i would go get them now. i am getting them for everything i do inside. do you think 5gal is good size on my photos too?

ps for the record i never imagined a site to be this much more enjoyable then the rest.

Hey CB, yeah, that is the main purpose of the pots is to prevent root bound plants. Honestly I don't run many autos so yes they are good for photos. The pictures I posted above were from a strawberry cough photo. I am thinking about bumping my size up just a bit though. I am in the process of building a new grow room with 10' ceilings so I will probably go with either 7 or 10 gallon pots pretty soon to let those sativas breath but with the 5 gallon that plant was about 4' tall and as you can see still had plenty of room for more roots. I think she was 10 or 11 weeks old when harvested.

Now im not saying you cant get great roots in plastic pot because these were in plastic pots but were fed H&G Roots Excelerator. Now this Strawberry Cough was transplanted into a 10 gallon smart pot and is thriving outdoors today, but the roots don't look the same as in this picture because they spreadout and utilize the whole pot instead of wrapping around the outer walls of the container...

The 10 gallon pot are perfect man. I was using 7's but the tens I am seeing much more growth. I have 1 MOB in a 7 and one in a 10 and the 10 gallon plant has much larger buds and better growth rates, not sure why but it does so I am sticking with 10's indoors and then 100's outdoors

if you like photos and want to see my work a little further on then i have logs at tsd. in hazeman it is a cocopuffs/ white 88 g13 hp and in cannaventure it is blackberry train wreck/ and lavender X flaming cookies. in the ggg forums i have them glorious bastards

i am really excited to see all these in action. let me know what you think if you go check it all out. the bastards were at tsd too but i stopped logging when no one came to say hi and i was running a double.

Wow great thread already, tons of info. I have used smaller 3 gal smartpots and am using now. The shape is a little short and wide so I like to tier plant for a little more depth. Speaking of tiering have you considered this option to tranplanting with autos? Simply cut the bottom out of the starter cup and put in final pot. Adds a little height for tap root, makes watering little ones easier, and less stress. Many do it for sexing I like the added benefits.

i got control now. it is you guys that make this a good thread. i agree with the observation though. it is some of the most instant knoweledge i have ever seen flowing. what great ideas everywhere and now another one. one issue i have some times is my plants become weak at the point where the stem enters the soil or media of most types. does this help with that? have you seen the size of my starter cups? are they big enough for that? i have really never heard this but ido it outside with buckets in cornfields and come back in the fall to beauites everywhere.

ok , so i thought a bit more about it and it seems this tiering would literally open about 5 more inches of pot if using a solo cup being that you sink the solo cup so far down as to being able to sit it in maybe 2 inches or so. another great idea. i am trying this also. i cant wait to see if all this works. none of it should hurt being that there is no lighting , water, soil, or food changes. boy oh boy this shit is getting real guys. i can almost feel the personal growth now.

10 gallon for everything indoors. The smart pot run small it seems. just out of curiosity I filled my 30 gallon trash can with promix and tried fitting it into my 30 gallon smart pot because it looked small for 30 gallon and sure enough it did not all fit in and its the same for the rest of them. the one gallon does not fit a gallon either. 7 might be ok for autos but if they are super autos id use 10's and same with photo's I would use 10's
