Hygrozyme is a good product, but I am not sure it alone will get rid of the fungus.

You also need to be able to know what is going on with your rez.
Rez temps, Ph, and ppm/ec

Otherwise you are just trying to guess with no previous experience to guide you.
And we cannot help you as effectively.

If it were me in your place, I would get an enzyme product and the meters I need.
Meantime, just keep rinsing your hydroton and manually removing the excess fungus.

There are fungal agents that can be used, but I am uncertain what is safe for use with cannabis.

Are you getting a new net pot or a whole new bucket to put the net pot you have in?


Thermometer for rez- digital cheapy for aquarium should be under $10
ppm/ec gauge- need a decent one ,will probably be $50+
ph meter- most of the hobby beer maker digital ph meters will work $35+

I use an inexpensive 5-1 meter that you can find on ebay or amazon for around a $120. they retail for significantly more.
There are three or four companies manufacturing similar devices for the aquarium industry so one brand will not be any better than another in my experience, I have several.

Hygrozyme - biggest bottle you can find for the best price you can find.
Chiller ?? nice, but pricey- shopping aquarium suppliers you can find some chillers rated for 24l selling for around $100 Do your homework before buying one, and make sure it comes with a thermostat. you will most likely need to be comfortable toying a bit to get it dialed in.

The guy at the store is telling me its spider mites and not a fungus so im going to try mite treatment first and see how it goes. Quick trick the guy at the store told me for temp is freezing a water bottle and putting it in my water

No on the ph strips. You will really need a digital meter similar to the TDS meter you linked, which by the way, will work fine.
Bear in mind that it is a "budget" meter. You get what you pay for, but I have found that if you keep cheap meters clean and don't subject them to abuse, they work fine for our purposes with an occasional adjustment. Being cheap, they do not tolerate abuse well.

Please furnish recent pics of the plant and the foreign material in question.
I have have never heard of mites webbing a moist root zone, or any root zone for that matter.
You should be able to see the mites in question if that were the case.

The guy at the store was correct. Depending on the time of the year and ambient temps in my grow area, I will use either frozen 1l bottles or 2l bottles to moderate the temp of the rez.
Feel free to look over my last few recorded grow journals. they will give you some idea of how successfully it works for me.
At some point I will probably switch over to independent chillers, the frozen bottle system works well enough for me at the present, but can be a literal juggling act at times.



Hopefully you have not treated for mites without confirming their presence.

Well I just had a doubt talking to the guy at the store so I went to a Hydroponic only shop and showed them my photo and they instantly said its mold. I think its because of the nutrients I used in my rez and the temperature, I used soil products in my bucket. If thats the reason idk but its my best guess, and im going tomorrow to buy that pen and some Great White for my roots. Has anyone used Great White? for the mold I got some h202 oxidizer and thats all im using for the problem so I hope it works. Another question what nutes do you use for hydro??

Currently, I recommend Advanced Nutrients, Ph perfect Sensi Grow & Bloom to beginners. Although, apparently developed for RO water, it works well with many water profiles in DWC.
However, H & G, General Hydroponics, and Botainicare all are reputable companies. I am currently testing out Dutch Pro with good results however, the company does not seem to have adequate staff suited to respond to technical questions, and so I am reluctant to vouch for them until that changes.

Which ever nutes you decide to go with. Just get the base nutes to start with. From there, you can add boosters once you understand, what they will add to your grow and when to add them.
I also encourage newbies to stay with a product line for simplicity sake, rather than mix & match nutrients until they understand what they contain.

I have seen similar growth on hydroton that was left in net pots tossed off in a dark damp bucket somewhere after a grow, but never on an active grow.
That doesn't mean your problem is terrible. and from what I can gather from reliable sources, it is generally more of a nuisance than a problem.

I was planning on using Advanced nutrients next grow so hearing you recommended it just made me feel a little more comfortable. Im going to keep it simple and I have been so far, and I'm using the General Organics Go box. Kinda like a rookie starter kit and I messed up and added It to my rez. My roots in my pot are healthy though and I think a root booster won't hurt but im a rookie and just like trying things I guess

I saw that stuff today so I just add that as a root booster and it also prevents Issues or is it just for root issues?
