The PM pyth tabz are expensive and also fully sterilise the water, killing good bacteria too.

I've just scrubbed and changed the res, i didn't filter the tap water this time in the hope that the chloramine may help combat the pythium, i also added 0.5ml/L of H2O2.

Thinking of using earthworm casting tea to combat/prevent the pythium.

Hey steely. Hope u are having a good day. I fallowing this with it interest but I still haven't become 100% friend with just soil so I try to understand what's going on here, learning a bit at time. Will probably try hydro in the future to so I watch your every move

Do you use an enzyme product like Sensizym or Hygrozyme? I thought I remembered reading it was supposed to help prevent/treat pythium.

Some of the formulas available are Aquashield, Piranha, VooDoo Juice, Great White (Great White has great reviews, yet is obscenely expensive), Subculture B, Rooters, and Plant Savers.

Great set up! Looks tough controlling heat in DWC. Hate to say it because I have an allotment and like being outdoors but I hope it cools off doesn't look like it this week .

I've ordered the rot-stop.

Also ordered a couple of submersible water pumps.

The plan is to have a second bucket with 2L bottles filled with ice, a water-pump in each bucket to circulate the nute mix from DWC, into the chiller bucket then back.

The pumps have adjustable flow rates which will help in tuning the system. I've read that a 2L bottle of ice takes around four hours to melt at 30C.

Can't wait to get my Autumn hydro grow on and not have to worry about keeping the res cool.

Will have to mod my dehumidifier and incorporate the auto topup system for whenever i go away next.

Have you heard of Heisenberg Tea? It's a brew it yourself remedy of earthworm castings and molasses, in its simplest form. There is a huge thread on it elsewhere I'd you search using Google.

Sounds like a good plan there steely!
Where are you keeping the second bucket? I ask 'cos I saw someone doing something similar and he had his cool res wrapped up in a beer cask insulator in a dark cupboard, I can't find the site/forum/thread but I'll keep an eye out for it.
