OLD REVIEWS strain recommendations - auto with Indica size but Sativa effect

I am looking for a strain for a small cabinet DWC grow that stays smaller like a Mephisto Sour Stomper or Toof Decay, or a FB Russian (approx. <30") but has a more Sativa-like effect (using the conventional sense of that term). I have searched AFN and elsewhere but have not been able to find much. Thanks in advance for your help.

Have you thought about topping? I've done it on all my grows with great results. @autobeast is the master of this on here. Top at the 5th node and you're good to go. You could grow any strain you want using this method if height is the problem.

Yes - I have tried it. The problem I run into is that due to the limited footprint (a little over 2 sq ft) I don't have enough space for the resulting colas. In other words, after topping the new colas get so big that I end up with a solid mass of bud that is about 6" thick but nothing underneath due to light/air restriction. I do ok with LST and can tie down a single main cola ok, but I run out of room pretty quickly. Hope that makes sense.

Hmm. Only other thing I can suggest is really heavy defoliation at the start of flower. Maybe some small pc fans under the canopy too.for airflow.

I've actually used most of FD methods long before this forum existed, having grown bonzai since 1970....the same patience is required.
Growing only for quality with no thought of yeild, I still achieve .75 oz per ltr medium while using 'less is more' premise.

Thank you. I have tried harvesting earlier and am not seeing that effect as widely reported.
