Photoperiod Subtropical perpetual outdoor guerilla grow with Connoisseur Genetics: crosses of Neville's Haze, Thai, SSSDHaze, Mullumbimby, Kariba

Meanwhile, back at the main garden... weeks ago...

The spring has meant that the weeds are all growing back.
It's harder to get in, but better cover once you're inside.
I found a fourth way to the garden, but it's not easy.

Here are the pots, as I found them.
First of all, no re-veg this year, none of them survived...
Sad.
But never mind.
The weeds, really weedy weeds, not special 'weeds', are growing well.
A couple of pots...

I want to prep for next grow.
I needed to pull out those old original cloth pots,
and free up the whole space for growing plants.

And, look at this soil!
It's just beautiful, the color, the consistency, the water retention.
Still a couple of those osmocote balls in there, but not many.
It's like this all the way down.
Lots of worms and other bugs in there, too, like big white larvae.
Luckily, didn't see any ants this time.

And, now for the funny part.
When I was pulling the leaves...
Oops, what was that?!?!
A volunteer!
Haha!
Must be one of the L'n'L Jones x (ThaiFrican x Grail) plants.
So, I pull out six seedlings, and here is another.
I think I may have seen a pistil in there.
Must be a couple of weeks old, already.
I did pull it right out, so some root damage.
But I just pushed her right back in there.
I think she'll be okay, just a minor issue.

I also used a bucket in the apartments to scoop up a couple of kg of guano.
Nice and dry by now.
And should be aged/fermented at least six months.
I won't use it here.
It will go for composting and deep application to my veggie garden.

Love & Hugs,

That little volunteer is still rolling along.
A pistil or two up top, not sure if she'll flower or veg, at this point.
Has some interesting leaf formations, something wild in those genetics!

Bottom right leaflets has been bug bitten, I think.
But top left corner, nope, that's natural.
And blurry in the center, leaflet's overlapping on other leaflets.

Miss Volunteer 2025 has maybe doubled in size in the last week or so.

You can see that she's definitely a she, with clear signs of flowering.
Mainly putting out three leaflet leaves.
Leaves are fairly thin, what we'd expect for her very sativa lineage.
It will be interesting to see how she responds to the season.
Will she just keep on flowering and finish off?
Will she go back to veg?
Will she get kind of stuck between flowering and veg?
Anything's possible, kids!
Stayed tuned for more adventures.

It's very hard resisting the urge to just go full outdoor season mode.
Drop beans left right and center, blah blah blah.
But I really do not want the same as last year,
massive plants that are outgrowing their pots,
and a headache to move if necessary.
I need to start my outdoor season around July or so.
Four weeks natural veg, into flower in late August, finishing off January or so.

Hard to resist that urge, haha!

Another update.
From a week + ago.

This volunteer (!) is
(Casey Jones) x (Super Silver Sour Diesel Haze)
x
((NevHaze18 x Mullumbimby Madness 1) x (NevHaze21 x Mullumbimby Madness Long)) x (Outback Haze 2 x (NevHaze x Kariba))

Standing at about 45 cm = 18" tall.

PXL_20250517_012434243.jpg

She's really not sure whether to flower or not, after showing already and going into flowering shape a little.

This chill cat is guarding the house downstairs.

A nice amount of rain lately.
Keep those roots happy.

Mystery Volunteer

Three weeks or so since the last photo update.

She looks like she is in the so-called 'pre-flower' phase.
Branching is for flower, and throwing three and five leaflet leaves mostly.

PXL_20250607_070727129.jpg

Looking very healthy.
Would have had a shook when I accidentally uprooted her.
But now all the growth is a healthy medium green.
No signs of any problems.

PXL_20250607_070732108.jpg

Leaf shape screams sativa.
Internode length, really quite short and tight.
Even if we don't really know her parentage,
given the last grow she was almost certainly going to be NLD.

PXL_20250607_070743885.jpg

I also prepped up one of the other large grow containers.
Originally the plants were in cloth pots, then inside these.
So their roots would have still been quite restricted.
But now this volunteer girl's container had the cloth pot removed, so lots of roots space.
And I finished one of the medium pots (the old one for the two SSSTN ladies).
Once the long rooted weeds are removed, and the old root structures broken up,
the soil / medium consistency in them looks just so lovely, rich, dark.
This way, when I start the next round, once they are established seedlings,
I can just drop them straight in to these same old containers.
Some of the MadMac haze x TH haze.
And something else, maybe Thai Madness, or back to the Grail, maybe not.

Meanwhile, the 'pond', complete with it's usual green algae layer.
If you just push the algae aside, the rest of the water is really quite clear.
