Everyone is saying NOT to top or trim autos due to their short life span. I have just grown out three plants and two of them are like their own little jungles. The lower sites are not getting enough light and they are taking over my room. I have three new little babies going now and I am wondering how soon I should try trying to train the plant? I plan on tying the fan leaves down to the main stalk of the plant as I am growing in DWC (so need to be able to lift the plant out of the bucket) and I have absolutly no room to try sog or scorg. Any suggestions and/or pics of what other people facing this issues have done would be greatly apprecaited!!

really, no one has any suggestions or advise on this subject? they are two weeks and already have fan leaves the size of my hands so I am going to be facing the same issues this time around and could really use some advise from people who have had success with training these bushy plants.
thank you!

What strain are they sassy sue? And how are they looking?

General accepted advice is not to try high stress technciques like topping fimming and supercropping - especially if you're new to growing. But saying that some strains can handle it rather well and some of the super growers will use those methods.

I'm not DWC .. but if the lid has a 'Rim" you could drill holes into it and tie braches to the lid rim.

Yes, make holes in lid (a pair of holes for each tie since you have to go in then out, don't laugh, i made that mistake once!).

Or, if you're in a cabinet of some sort, get some of those small hooks with threads and drill tiny holes in your cab for them.

so these babies are my second run. The first three plants are coming to an end, although not in the order the label on the seed packs said they would. I am currently doing auto whiteflower (will be cut and sent to dry in the next couple of days) auto wappa and auto carmello. The wappa and carmello are like little jungles all of their own. I am hopeful once the WB is out I can stretch the other two out a bit so they can get light further in. BUT< NEW BABIES.. 2 weeks in and they are already close to 6 inches tall and the fan leaves are the size of my hands (all be it I have small hands BUT< LOL). so not sure if I should start tying them down now, or wait? and if I am waiting, for how long? Thanks for the thought about putting wholes in the tops of the net pots!

thanks, in a room (former cedar closet). I will for sure be putting some wholes in my net pots around the edges. Thank you

Make sure that after you put the holes in the net pot and get the string through it to seal it with something- Don't want light hitting your roots.

Just screw some short screws right into the bucket lid and tie down to those. It works great.

Hi sassy, I'm in a small space too. I've bent the plants away from one another to expose them to more light down low. Bending the main cola over so the lower branches/buds catch up to the main cola in height has also worked for me. I don't know if it truly makes a difference, as it's the only light I've grown under, but I have a LED with 5W diodes which is supposed to penetrate farther into the canopy. :goodluck:
