Grow Room Super Cheapie Sneaky Freebie Beanie Ninja PC Grow 1st Auto!

So she seems to have cooled out after her transplant drama avec flushing x2. Better still, the new soil is draining and drying out rather well 2-4 days and she's ready for a drink. I am however getting some fairly strange foliage in the beginning few leaves (see pic). I have seen this in other journals and I know this straightens out. I just wonder if it is because the strain is still unstable or they are such highly modified genetics or if my water is radioactive or just that I have a gay plant (which hey, its OK as long as it doesn't want to have a sex change).
Oldster- I did some research on "soiless" growing and I likey. I thought that always meant hydroponics but I find out no. I may germ my other free Autobot (some kind of Black Jack Horror or the other) mostly sativa and grow it in a coir/perlite mix. I am even considering an automated watering system not necessarily hydro but something similar.
I really enjoy not taking this too seriously and playing around with my plants and grows but I really want to nail down a system and get a few really productive grows under my belt. I don't think I will be able to do it in a pc. I may have to build a piece of "furniture". Something along the lines of a double doored armoire or something to where I can achieve some height and girth. I also found out from my chinese LED manufacturer that my lights should be 1-1.5m away from plants. Thats 3.5-5ish feet away! They might actually be touching the plant in the pc right now, so thats not right. Even if they are off a few feet, I don't believe LED's should be right up on plants like mine are. I am thinking about removing the 20w, leaving the 10w and adding a warm cfl. Whew! Alot I'm thinking about with all this. Any ideas from the peanut gallery would be greatly considered. Thanks.

Hi Aku,

Happy to see the babies recovering. From the way the new leaves are curling down a bit and the close node spacing, the lights may be a little close. If you can back them off 6 inches I would give it a try. Too close node spacing will create issues with light penetration as they get bigger.

As to coco I have no experience, I know a lot of folks here like it but there does seem to be a learning curve with it. I think peat based mixes are a bit more forgiving for less experienced growers. Just my opinion from what I see here.

Good luck

If you want to learn more about all the organic soil amendment stuff go to build-a-soil.com and check out the blog. There are some really good PDFs and vids on their.

Aha, yes my light has been pretty close. I will move it away some. This is my worry for the pc as well those LEDs do not have much room, so last night I took out the 20w COB LED and replaced it with a 23w warm light cfl.nThis is where the Autrofem is going to end up so I am trying to perfect the environment before the move.
As always, thanks for the heads up Oldster. I will research the peat based soiless grows.

Those peat pots look like the perfect thing to start my poppies off in come the spring. I still havent found a good peat mixture for growing in but I'm sure to come across someones set up that has this. I would really like a shot at going either hydro or aero but it will not happen here. Until then, pot in pots is for me. Hopefully I will use a soiless mix for my next auto grow. Thanks for all your advice Oldster, much appreciated.

Well, I did move the light up 6-8 inches but it seems there is no more room between nodes. I found an older grow with this strain that had 2 pheno's. One was really squatty like this plant is looking to turn out. The other two were much more lanky. The grower did say that this strain was their personal favorite and didn't even share it with friends! Going to let her go long as to try and increase the CBD for medicinal purposes. We shall see how she does in a stealth situ.

Today is day 17

If you can find Pro-mix where you live it is what lots of folks here use. I not just look for something that doe not have any added nutes of any sort just peat, perlite and limestone

Good luck

WOW. I went out of town for a couple days and holy shiite! My baby def. showed her ass whilst I was gone. I hafta get this bitch hidden quick. Post a pic soon. I really cant believe she jumped up like she did. Oldster- I will search out your pro-mix, I have heard of it before but for some reason I do not believe it is available in my area. I sure will look though. Wait till u see what my girl did in 2 days.WIN_20141002_094921.jpg

DAY 20!

Of course the characteristics of this grow is going to be much different from the photo I grew from bagseed, I know this. BUUUUT, this thing is very strange. It grew its 1st true leaves and there was no to none node distance. I moved the light up (thanks Oldster) and went away for 2 days only and BOOM, this is what I have, daaaamn. Also it took a complete stoppage in growth and me topping my photo before any secondary growth occured. Now it seems to be happening concurrently with normal main stalk growth. I am oacing myself on both the watering and the nutes to try and have the healthiest plant I can in the small space that I have. I have not condemned her to the pc yet as the powers that be are showing zero interest in the various new gardening projects I have started all around the house. I have in the last month started sage, rosemary, basil, spearmint, a flower that rests in water (forgot the name of the bulb) some cali poppies and a safflower, on top of my little LD auto here. When it becomes just all too obvious she will have to go in the pc.
