Howdy-Doody Rowdy-booties!
I've been doing some experimenting over the last year using No-till or supersoil type amendments in a Coco/EWC mix, and it's been working well for me so far. Before I had attempted this I was under the impression that substituting peat with coco would not work, alot of people seemed to think that because of the Cation Exchange Capacity (forgive me if I used the wrong term) of coco, it would just be a waste of time. I gave it a shot for gits and shiggles one day and was really shocked with how well things went!
I believe the mix I used my first time was just coco, ewc, and the Roots organic uprising line (Grow, bloom, and Foundation) at the rate recommended by Vance at Aurora (He's my go-to when I have a question. My customer service has been phenomenal with this guy) (which came out to 1 ounce [by weight] of each of the uprising line. Now I'm at the point that I've started to mess with things a little bit, I made a super small batch the other day that consisted of the following;
About 1 gallon of Roots Organic Coco (thoroughly rinsed) mixed with EWC
2 tbs Uprising grow
1 tbs uprising bloom
1 tsp Roots Organics Elemental
2 tbs KIS Organics Insect Frass
1 1/4 tsp Bigfoot Granular Mycorrhizae
Now, I don't know exactly what's taking place that makes this work. Maybe it's the CEC of the worm castings that makes it work, Maybe it's just dumb luck on my end. But I'm curious if others here have tried making a super-coco like this, and if so, how did it work for you?
Growers Love, Yall! Stay red eyed, smiley, and live life Irie!
