I've been doing some experimenting over the last year using No-till or supersoil type amendments in a Coco/EWC mix, and it's been working well for me so far. Before I had attempted this I was under the impression that substituting peat with coco would not work, alot of people seemed to think that because of the Cation Exchange Capacity (forgive me if I used the wrong term) of coco, it would just be a waste of time. I gave it a shot for gits and shiggles one day and was really shocked with how well things went!

I believe the mix I used my first time was just coco, ewc, and the Roots organic uprising line (Grow, bloom, and Foundation) at the rate recommended by Vance at Aurora (He's my go-to when I have a question. My customer service has been phenomenal with this guy) (which came out to 1 ounce [by weight] of each of the uprising line. Now I'm at the point that I've started to mess with things a little bit, I made a super small batch the other day that consisted of the following;

About 1 gallon of Roots Organic Coco (thoroughly rinsed) mixed with EWC
2 tbs Uprising grow
1 tbs uprising bloom
1 tsp Roots Organics Elemental
2 tbs KIS Organics Insect Frass
1 1/4 tsp Bigfoot Granular Mycorrhizae

Now, I don't know exactly what's taking place that makes this work. Maybe it's the CEC of the worm castings that makes it work, Maybe it's just dumb luck on my end. But I'm curious if others here have tried making a super-coco like this, and if so, how did it work for you?

Greetings! I'm trying to find more info on super coco as well. How's it going for you, I know this post is almost a yr ago.

I'll be adding dry amendments from Mephisto Genetics to California Substrates coco coir to create this super coco. What kind of water do you use, and do you pH?

Wondering if this super coco will adjust pH on its own like super soil

Hey there!
I did a few runs with the coco and didn’t have any issues, there was a slight CaMg def but that was taken care of once I added Elemental to the mix.

As far as watering, I used plain RO water, never bothered to pH it bc the RO water doesn’t have anything in it to throw off the pH. Not to mention the microbes make everything available for the plant, so you don’t have to count on availability at a certain pH

This is pretty interesting. What is the draw to using coco over peat - just to see if you can or does the coco give you something that the peat doesn’t?

Wondering your mixture ratio of Coco to EWC? Want to experiment wid dis kine.

I have been growing this way for years I add peat an quite a few other amendments but it's still mostly coco an 100 percent soiless with extremely active microbes.
