Hey AFN!

I am a new grower and a new member of this forum. So basically this will be my grow journal from where I will upload pics of my ladies :) any input will be massively appreciated!

My hydroponics kit was delivered today :p

I am using a DR90 grow tent
400w Maxibright HPS grow light kit
Carbon filter and 220 m3h extraction fan
140 m3h inlet fan
4x 11 litre black square pots
Thermo hygrometer and RH meter
Ionic nutrients starter set for soil (grow, bloom, boost, root stim, grow stim and bloom stim)
Ph pen along with Ph up and Ph down
2l jug along with different sizes of pipette's and syringes :)
Oh and also Yo-Yo hangers (almost took my eye out with these!)

Unfortunatly my light schedule will always be 12/12. This is because my tent is in my bedroom as there is no where else for it to go :(

So a few days ago I started to germ my critical rapido seeds. I germed 4 out of the pack of five by firstly putting them in a shot of water and waited for them to sink. Then put them in between some wet tissue untill they rooted. This took 3 days :). BUTTT!! As i was popping them in the soil i dropped one and couldnt find it! :( so ive started to germ the last seed. I hope it getms otherwise i will only have 3 plants :( stupid me ey!

Im using basic compost from a garden shop. I had a budget of about £250/£300 and actually spent £305 woo :p
What ive done is used light less "hot" compost in the middle of the pot and a higher grade of conpost to fill the rest. This is so by the time the roots spread it should be pretty mature to handle the richer soil.

Think ive waffled too much :0

Thanks alot guys and any advice is welcomed and appreciated. I will probably need alot of help to succeed in my new adventure but I think im in the right place. Going to try and upload some photos now, hope it works as im using my phone as laptop is broke :(

So good news I have now planted the rooted seeds into their homes :)
I have covered the pots with cling film to trap the humidity. I only lightly misted the soil so it doesnt turn to mud.

Lights will be turned on as soon as they have sprouted. Pots are already sitting in the DS90 grow tent to help keep them that bit warmer.

Pictures will follow as soon as they soaking up the light :)

Will be interesting to see how the 12/12 light schedule works out for you. Will be watching this!

Best of luck and enjoy the ride!

:smokebuds:

PS: I hope you did not put the plants straight into compost but mixed it up a little. just compost would be too nutrient rich and burn/stunt them especially in the seedling stage.

Im pretty interested too testor!
Yes i mixed the soil up, the centre section is seedling compost so dont worry :)

Hey AFN,

So i got a delivery today of 4x 6 litre air pots. I love there design and how easy they are to put together! I decided to switch the pots from 11 litre square ones to the air pots. The roots where only about a centimeter from the seed so no harm done. My light is at 70cm's from the top of the air pot. Its off at the moment because the plants havnt sprouted. Im planning on bringing it a bit closer when there about a week old. Is 70cm's good enough distance for a small new plant when it pops?. I also gave them a 1 litre feed of Ph 6.5 water with 1ml of greenfuse root solution in it between them. Wont be watering again till first 1 inch of soil is dry.

Thanks alot and any advice is appreciated!

I am curious why you have to run 12/12 indoors? Your yields will be much smaller than if you ran them with a normal autoflower light cycle. Also beware of Yo-Yo hangers as they seem to break at the worst times. You will find many a post about damaged plants from trusting them too much. Have you done a ph runoff test from your soil yet? Your setup looks really nice. Do you have a veg bulb for your HPS?

Hey Scott,

Thanks for dropping in :)

I have my light schedule on 12/12 because the safest place in my apartment is my bedroom, the mistress doesnt mind it being there lol XD
With the noise of the extraction sleeping will be hard on 18 hours per day. Im planning on having the light come on at 9am and off at 9pm, there is a flat below me so I dont want it on after then incase they go to sleep and they may hear the noise.

I did a slurry test which i read on this forum, i got half a cup of my medium and mixed it with a cup of water at Ph 6.5. I left that for about 1 hour and 45 mins and done my test with my meter. It came out at 6.8.

All i would like is a ounze per plant. Its for my personal use and I only smoke at night time so 4 ounzes would easily last me till my next grow is done :)

You scare me about the Yo-Yo hangers haha, im going to get two lengths of jack chain now hahaha! Thanks for mentioning it :)

Thanks for liking the setup :) Im using a sunmaster dual spectrum bulb which is 400 watts. I just turned the light on to take a picture, its off at the moment untill the ladies rise.

Thanks for the input scott once again! :)

I have my grow box right next to my bed.

https://www.autoflower.org/f28/diy-stealth-grow-project-2-x-2-a-595-3.html

Using that setup I have the lights go off right before bed time and come on before I wake up. Its quiet enough that it doesnt wake me up so maybe you could do the same thing some day. My setup really doesnt let me add a silencer or I wouldn't hear a thing.

Ok on light height you can lower them a bit and use you hand to make sure they are only a little warm. You dont want them to close and they can grow a inch or 2 a day so keep an eye out.

Your soil sounds good from your ph tests but you might want to monitor it during your grow every few weeks or between flower and veg.

yup Yo Yo's are No No's lol Chains never break or fall on your plants. Good move on this one.

In my little 2x2 box I can grow more than I can smoke so you are on the right path to self reliance!!

Best Grow Karma sent your way!

Hey Scott,

Nice stealth box! Wouldnt mind having one myself :)

Im going to get that chain as soon as possible, dont like the Yo - Yo hangers now, plus there too fiddley and I have to have a 1kg weight on top to balance it out, its a disaster waiting to happen!

Yerp I will check my Ph every few weeks thanks for the tip, ive just let my box on for about 2 hours and the temps got to 28 ish degree celcius which is close to 85 farinheight. Im going to buy a clip on fan over the weekend to keep the temps down, this will allow me to have my light closer too.

Thanks for the karma! Karma back at you for your adventures :)

My RH isnt a problem its just keeping my temps down, the fan should help it tho :)

Hey AFN,

So since my temps are hitting 83.2 F / 28 ish degree celcius I have just reserved a fan to pick up tommorow :)

Hopefully the seeds should sprout up soon, stay high folks and happy growing!
