New Grower Teach me how to feed nutes

Depends on what medium/soil you're using...if it's something like Fox Farms Ocean Forest or Happy Frog, you shouldn't use anything for the first couple/few weeks because those soils already have a bunch of nutes in the mix, out of the bag. FFOF has more than FFHF so most would say nothing for the first 3 weeks on that. Once it's time to run nutes you'll use both simultaneously, not one or the other.

EDIT:

I checked the beginning of the thread and see you're running FFOF so no nutes for at least the first 2 1/2 weeks or so...

My plants are now a little over 3 weeks and this week I'm going to start the feeding. So when I feed for the first time should I use Big Bloom and Grow Big at the same time? I mix them together right and how many times a week do you feed? I'm just a little nervous about feeding I don't want to mess anything up

Feed every other watering is what most people do buddy and with these nutrients and start with 1/4 strength. Grab a feeding schedule off the net and follow it roughly.
hope this helps

Ok yeah everything is starting to make more sense. I already have the feeding schedule it came with the Fox Farm nutrients the chart starts off when the plant is just a seedling where you just give it Big Bloom and it says for week 3 you give Big Bloom and Grow Big. Should I follow the schedule at week 1 since this is my first feeding or should I start the schedule at week 3 since that's how old my plants are? I got the measurement done pretty good I was just confused a little with how often I feed and still a little confused with what nutrients to give.

I am using the fox farm nutes also. I followed the feeding schedule on this grow and started right away, instead of waiting a few weeks.
The plant is doing better then where I waited.
I feed every 4-5 days when the soil is dry.

I'm about to grow Magnum and Pineapple Express too, just got the seeds. I'll try that out and start right away and see what happens.

Would you say start with what week 3 says since that's how old they are or do what week 1 says since it's my first week of feeding?

I always waited till week 3.5 or 4.i would mix up big bloom and grow big 1\5 strength to start.i too used to use ocean forest and I could bet u anything that if you started off from the get go feeding 1/4 strength fox farm nutes with ocean forest and ur soil ph is in perfect range and u feed every 4-5 days without a plain ph water u probably gonna burn the shit out of her.fox farm nutes r pretty hot shit, especialy tiger bloom.not tryin to be a dick but if I was you I would try and gather more info before feeding anymore.being ur first grow and all I would use very little nutes.ocean forest alone is known to burn seedlings without any additives at all.hope this helps I don't want you to burn up ur babies and have to start all over again

I was always told to wait a few weeks before feeding. I gave the heavyweight 3 tablespoons of grow big, silica, beone on the first feeding.
no nute burn and great growth.

Larth, what type of soil were you using? Was it FFOF? If not then your advice may be a tad reckless. FFOF has a LOT of pre-incorporated nutrients...many new growers kill or severely stunt their plants by overfeeding them at the beginning in FFOF...sometimes they experience nute burn on seedlings without any nute feeding at all...As faded187 stated above. In the short time I've been here, I've seen it, multiple times.

Yes it could be a reckless statement, however every strain is different so his recklessness or experimenting with different feeding could workout better. Yes it is very wise to stay on the safe side and wait to feed until aprox week 3 but if you're familiar with a strain or are just a small closet grower it doesn't hurt to see what works best for your setup even if it is a little reckless. :) just my two cents.
