Indoor Tent ventilation

Hey Guys,
My exhaust fan/carbon filter combo just arrived from Low_Baller @ Amazon.com, and all looks and sounds good.I have a question though: the carbon filter canister has a plastic liner between the canister and the outer white filter membrane...it will certainly prevent any air from exhausting out of the filter. Is the plastic supposed to stay like that or should I remove it? The reason I ask is that it seems impossible to remove without cutting/tearingthat outer white filter membrane which would render it useless. None of the photos/videos I've viewed demonstrating these carbon filters had this plastic. Please advise.

Best bet would be to "contact seller" via Amazon and ask him, he's pretty good about responding quickly.

But to be clear, you want the filter to be drawing air from inside the tent...upstream, so to speak, of the fan. Not pushing air out of it.

If it's solid plastic (not porous) I HAVE to think it goes....but IDK

The white prefilter slides off so you can clean it later. It may be a bit tight but it will slip off allowing you to remove the plastic wrap. Be aware that when you remove the plastic some carbon dust will come out, so don't do it on carpet or anything like that.

I'll assume you have done this before...I also assumed that what you described was necessary, however, I didn't want to ruin anything because of ignorance. I've lived long enough to humbly admit my lack of experience and ask. Thank you very much Andy...you too Trapper.

I got the 4" set-up for a 48" x 24" x 60" and I got a speed controller as well...

Here's a quick pic of my fan setup, 4" RVK exhaust fan hanging from bungee's above the tent(it'll be inside if I go for a taller tent).
It's inside a cardboard box stuffed full of old clothes, they are self cooling fans so no need to worry about them overheating even if you use expanding foam to fill the box!, It's been running constantly for 6 months now and I've just fitted a new filter. First filter lasted 5 months so not too bad. It's quiet enough that I can leave it on when non-420 visitors turn up, the only thing I do need to get is a proper speed controller to eliminate the hum/vibration when it's at half speed.
No exhaust fan needed and I've found that if the canopy temps get a bit high you can lose a couple of degrees by moving the lights a few inches higher, not much higher at all but it works as long as the exhaust is sucking air from the top of the tent

Do you guys prefer to keep the prefilter on or off? If the carbon filter is part of the exhaust, I didn't think it was really needed since it would clog up airflow but am interested to hear if there are consenting opinions. Thanks
