Live Stoner Chat Tester Nugs.. Whats you technique?

I hear/see people that take tester nugs at or before harvest... Im wondering how YOU take test nugs. Do you let them dry for a day or two then do the test smoke? What results are you looking for when you test uncured bud thats dried faster than it should be? I just cut a few test nugs so I'm trying to learn this process/practice. Let me know!!

I usually take a couple small nugs that are solid about a week before I plan to harvest my plant to judge the effect of the stone. I dont use a loop so I go just by how the plabt is fading and how the buds are swelling. But I try to dry it in 2-3 days and ill usually smoke a joint of it just to feel the buzz and smoothness to see how much more of a flush I need if any. I dont judge flavor or anything like that because it doesnt have a proper dry or cure. Really man tester nugs can be for whatever reason you want. Its yours and you're testing it lol you decide your guidlines for testing. Cheers man

Me personally will take testers at week 6. Toss them into the decarbox wait 2 hours and toke up. For me in the test stage I'm really just making sure we don't have anything bad tasting like excess neuts. The overall of premature flowers is usually pretty bad, lol I will call it a acquired taste. Around week 6 will give you a pretty good idea of what you need to do like add molasses during the flush. Will also tell you how heavy to flush. The difference from week 6 to 30 day cure is really amazing sometimes. It never gets old.

LOL, I THINK IT' KILLING YOU JUST TO GET YOUR HANDS ON A TOKE OF THAT PLANT. YOUR BREAKING OUT IN A COLD SWEAT, JUST ADMIRING THEM BUDS. YOU HAVE THAT GOOD MR.JOINT ON ONE SHOULDER AND MR. I chop when they're ready.

I try to avoid, but when I need to dry wet nugs I use the 'Baine Marie' method...


Not recommend but better than microwave, oven, etc...

The wife will chop a test nug dry it on top of the toaster oven. She tells me if it's what she's looking for or not. I don't smoke so makes sense to me.

I sometimes will test a small bud to give me an idea on what to expect or to see if I might want to add a special terpene Tea I make to add flavor .

We edible makers can have some edibles the same day as harvest. When impatience takes over, here's something that works very well.
(1) Pick 5 times as much weight of bud as you will need for a small batch. I often pick 1 oz, which will become 1/5 oz.
(2) Break into small pieces.
(3) Weigh a food dehydrator tray.
(4) Place herb on this tray, and weigh tray + herb, so you'll know how much the herb weighs at all times.
(5) Dry herb in the food dehydrator for about 10 hours @ 105 F, or until the herb has lost 80% of its weight. Hotter temps might work faster, but could damage herb, and going above 130 F is probably harmful.
(6) After it's lost 80% of its weight, decarb the herb using a verifying thermometer @ 240 F for 40 min.
(7) Grind herb to fine powder.
(8) Mix thoroughly into nut butter or nutella, with frequent stirring. Each gram of original herb used will show up as about 150 mg thc.
(9) Spread onto crackers, and eat, or bake into any recipe, trying not to add too much more heat for too long, which could over-decarb.

I can't tell much difference between doing this and the other edibles I make.

No heat..I usually take popcorn if any at harvest time, chop it up as fine as I can get it ( grinder sized ) and spread it out on a paper towel..I then place that paper towel in a dark drawer for about 2-3 days and the flower is smokable,burns, and stays lit..Suprisingly smooth as well ( considering the faster dry ). Cut a few smaller buds below, dry them as I mentioned above and pull a nice little dot of some scissor hash to throw in with that bud once dry.
