I am wondering if this is an ok way to check ph and maybe ppm/ec in my soil until I get my soil blue lab pen? I took one cup water and 1 cup sunshine 4 mixed and let sit 10 min then strained through a coffee filter and dropped my probes into it and it read 6.2 ph and 420 ppm.... is this efficient/ or some what accurate way to check for now. and is this good for sunshine 4 growing auto's? Thanks for any and all input

What Ph was the water that you started with?

That will give you a decent idea, I would think, but maybe not right on. 420 ppm...:D Awesome. 420.

And yes Sunshine #4 is great stuff so I hear. :D

It seems that the Sunshine #4 is spot on then. :check: Gotta get me some of that, but can't find it in my area.

it's online everywhere but shipping is ridiculous where it weighs a lot. But if you can find it the 3.8 cf bails they go a long way 1 will fill I think about 6-7 5 gallon pots.. I have always used pro-mix until this grow and will keep using sunshine from here on out because it seems to stay stable.. a lot of people say add dolomite so I bought some and did not use any at all and it seems to be perfect as you said... I will be trying it outdoors soon in 50 gallon trash cans but will only use about 35-40 gallons.... will be costly but I think it will grow some monster plants in them.....I usually use big rig tires dig into ground a couple feet and fill in with my mix but it a lot of work lugging and shoveling so the trash cans will be an ease....

I used to be able to get sunshine #4 locally and used to to start my Veggie seedlings.. I can no longer get the Sunshine and now use Pro Mix BX... Both do very good on my veggie seedlings, but Sunshine does seem to be better...

SS#4 adv + EWC = 2 weeks of veg without nutes, all organic. I can get a photo to the point of getting flipped to 12/12 on just a tiny dose of BioRoot in some RO water. Really great starter profile, and the touch of EWC wakes up the microlife they put in there (mico's added).

That's a good idea I may try that against using sunshine #4 and Coast of Maine soil
