New Grower THC in Trichomes: Reproduction or defence mechanism

Just thought I'd put it out there apologies if its been asked before,
But I'm just wondering if thc is produced to protect the plant you know to deter insect attack or mould growth or is it to help aid the fertilisation/pollination process.
I seems to remember being told that thc is a secondary plant product made by the plant in response to some kind of stress.

It is the cannabis plants sunscreen

Therefore, the more UV exposure at the time of trichome production will produce the most trichomes.

IMO trichs are made by the plant as a uv protectant...

It protects the plant from harmful radiation that the sun puts off. So this brings up my question... If you exposed the plant to small amounts of radiation would the THC % go up ?

There IS some evidence that narrow band uv-b lamps help the plant trichome generation....herpetology cfl's or narrow band uv-b flouro's used for psorasis treatment are one I have considered using.

Well I'm surprised. That is so simple more light= more trichomes=more thc.

It's all about the light and a plant responding to intensity of the light

I only use CFL's (until LED gets here) and my grows have had heavy trichome production.

Hanging U/V vertical Lighting is supposed to be the best way to increase your trichomes. These Uv's are aquarium light for reptiles. but you can burn up your plants so be careful. Always Use UV glasses for protection.

The best time of year to flower for UV is at the Summer equinox.

The closer to the equator, the better the trichome production, cuz of better UV
