Groff you should try on of these there great for sucking up your run off as theres no way im lifting out 20lt pots with ma back, lol , its just a simple oil sypion/syringe cost me £10 one of my best buys and holds up to 500ml in one suck great bit of kit mate

dex, I posted the exact same solution on the first post :cough: My siphon pump doesnt have a rez, so I extract straight to a 5L water bottle. Takes 5 minutes to clean 7 plants. Each plate holds a massive 2.5L of water

So with the fabric around the outside of the air pot... it... no longer... air prunes? Is that purposeful? Cause the whole point of an air pot is to air prune the roots so they grow back into the medium. Or have I got it wrong?

Hence the title of the thread :ama: haha
As Sir Cunning says, it certainly was not expected. I did the tights thing to prevent whitflies from reproducing, everyday dreading fungus gnats. Also the tights helps in that when watering the medium it does not squirt out and actually builds up in the holes. Yes, I do leave run-off on the plate (to help up the RH%), but somehow the tights created a humidity dome promoting root search i guess...

Although exciting, I'm stuck with a problem. I loose alot of headroom and have to go out and spend quite some coins I didn't plan on.

Thanks for the invite to the thread Graff:group:. The stuff i have seen in 3 minutes of lookin at it makes me want to do it. This stuff is genius!!!

Thanks for the slap my friend im glad to see the panty hoes are working out.. Not going to lie tho. It was a pain in the ass to slip them over a 3.4 gallon airpot hahah had to buy the plus size kind. ( nothing against bigger women) thats crazy how the roots decided to blast through the bottom of the Airpot but you got that under control i c. Let the experiments begin!!

And I put mine on already with the coco and the plants growing! Not an easy feat, but totally worth it.
I think I've come up with an extremely cheap and "perfect" DIY setup! Let me just get everything down and I will post the design. I really need to get this going soon. I am so excited !!

Got a couple of question though, 'cos I've never used a true hydro system before- hope someone chimes in!

- In the brummie or regular drip system, is the drip system constantly on? Always dripping slowly? Or on a timer? What do these look like, I cannot for the life of me find a dripper system kit!
- The Brummie bubbler as shown is a recirculation system... I'm trying o cut cost in both energy and investment. Is it feasable to have the airpots recieve the nutrients and have the roots in the deep water culture just sucking O2 and water? I'm thinking of a "run to deep water waste" system, where I collect the run-off + water + airstone at a lower EC than fed to the coco. Opinions?

From a quick research, it seems I will be going for either a Hailea V60 or AC0-9820 - 3600L/h output, extremely low noise, 35 watt output. Got to find an 8 way valved manifold...

I can see the idea with the Brummie bubblers but the air pot surely doesn't do any purpose other than a large net pot correct? Assuming its filled my hydro clay, the roots just grow out of the holes as they will be in complete darkness?

I think I've figured out a cool design, which actually uses the benefits of the airpot ... Tell me what you guys think! Did two plants

Total cost per plants is around 5€ :bong: ...

except for the pump etc, still have to get that... Hailea 9820 which costs 70€ + 8€ for 2x 4-way manifold with valve + 32€ for a 8 big ceramic hailea diffuser discs
So (110€ / 7 plants ) + 5€ rez = approx 21€ per plant.

Now I just have to figure out how to run the rez section...

Nice man that's really clever. How will you manage to feed them though without over doing it. Will they be top fed and fed through your res? If you pull this off, she may yield very nicely.
