I am hereby submitting for official approval my Cob Snob badge design. If you guys are into it, help me figure out what it should be awarded for...i was thinking yielding 2 grams per watt, or owning 3 cob lights...i dunno

Oh yeah, speaking of badges, can somebody hook me up with the Mephisto and Diy cob badges?

I like it. I think anyone building their own light and showing a grow with it should get it. I bet 99% of people and myself included never thought at the start of their growing career they would build a light. Nevermind one to grow canna with. Now I'm happy to say I have built over 500 lights!!! Not sold 500 but built.

The tech freak from my understanding was not for DIY but for exactly that. Freaks for the tech. It was later passed on to anyone building lights. As I watch afn lean more towards cobs I think there should definitely be a new badge of sorts. Cob growing, cob building, cob building and growing.

Hey BigSmo
I'd feel totally honored if tgey chose to use it, and especially as the diy badge, i thought there was a specific one for cob diy.
I'm so happy I came across cobs, i probably would have had to shut things down with my 600 hps, my property manager was on my ass about electricity consumption. I've been trying to spread the word to any growers I meet, they've all been blown away by my 320 watts against their hid. Every time I hit the hydroshop it gets a pretty good conversation started. it's a total game changer... I can grow in my fishtank stand, and actually get a decent yield.
I think alot of people ignore led by default now, i know several people that had big expectations for blurples when they came out, then had their hopes dashed by it's mediocrity. Not to mention the drain on their wallets. I heard about led when I was into keeping reef tanks, and was really excited over the claims made by companies making the monodiodes. A third the electricity, not having to deal with heat, and moving a 60 lamp every time I did tank maintenance, no bulb replacements ...i dropped about $600, and was so disappointed that it wasn't viable. I was saving for a cmh when I saw the things people were doing with cobs, and started reading as much as I could. I'm really grateful for people like yourself helping when I needed advice. Building your own light is extremely satisfying.
I'm kinda rambling, but I get pretty excited about the possibilities cobs open up. Id be pretty happy if Cob Snob gets used:smoking:

Also, you have built a shit ton of lights! I hope your business is going well. I've built 4 in the last 3 months already. It's addictive. Aaaand my buddy got an RC quad drone the other day, and I ended up screwing around with it...i had to go buy one that day, and also have a bunch of diy drone parts in the mail...sigh...

Oh the drones... not gotten into the super expensive ones yet. But I do have a few dozen that are just a blast to fly. Cant imagine smashing a 25 thousand dollar DJI into a tree lol.

As for the badge that would probably be up to @Rebel the badge man. I have asked about a DIY badge in the past but was told the tech freak is it. I'm definitely down to a new badge!!. Especially one you have to work for.

You are lucky you skipped the cmh, I have a few of them and they do a good job but they seem to be little hot boxes everytime I turned them on. I have also seen some of the best growers struggle with deficiencies with them. Not all people but enough to raise caution. Especially when spaced tightly. Fingers crossed on the badge.

Haha, for $25k they should have an integral force field generator. In my mind I'm already in for 25. I wanna build a monowheel that flips horizontally and becomes a drone. And I wanna ride in it. God, these are fun though.
It was such a relief when I saw how cool the cobs run. With hid, i has to run the fans full blast, which decreased the humidity from 2 humidifiers, so I had to zip the tent to contain it, which made the temps skyrocket...things are pretty dialed in now, and at like a 3rd the power use

All this talk about Cobs made me realize I need more cobs...

Gonna replace the 5700k's I was using for my clones with these so I don't have to go through the insufferable wait for my photo to finish before doing those Illuminautos...

Dig the design on the badge, but not sure I will ever see 2gpw. I have had cobs for a few months and am already upgrading again. I went from small- 3 cobs to a new tent with 5. I had 4 at 3500k and one at 3000k 90 cri, so I thought I would get 6 and have it a 2 to 1 ratio. With the 6th in hand I decided what I really needed was 8 and am about to order again. I think I have to stop at 400w though. lol
