I did want to tell you Feenix if I am not mistaken, the purple stems come from not having enough Phosphorus or it not being available to the plant due to incorrect pH. If you are getting purple stems often then I would suggest trying a nutrient with more phosphorus and you should get nice healthy green stems. But to answer your question, no it really doesnt hurt anything to have the purple stems. If it gets too bad of a Phos deficency it can lead to floppy or weak stems but that is in extreme cases.
