Glad you got past inspection. The partially filled bucket idea was the best.

EDIT: The problem with leaving the roots in water with no air is they suffocate and die. Dead roots = food for pathogens. So I hope just to be safe you dumped the half empty bucket of water she was sitting in and replaced it with new water. With DWC you are kinda okay because you can just change out the nutrient solution whenever you want. I do RDWC and it's a lot more scary when thinking about and dealing with pathogens because once they are in the system, they are in the system.
