Hello, I'm growing my 6 plants and 5 are in the soil mix recipe recommended on the site but the sixth plant is in plain soil and pretty discolored. Bright yellow splotches on the bottom leaves, some of my other plants have bottom leaves that turned yellow but everything over the scrog looks great. Anyways thought I might just need calmag on the plant in plain soil? Can anyone tell me by the pictures if that sounds right? Using GH basic system, veg growth formula at full strength. Thanks!

Nutrient difficiency of some kind. When mine get a lack of light it can resemble that too... Good luck. let us know if the cal mag makes a diff.

looks like mag def.u checkin ur ph in and out.how old?what lights?

X2 what Faded said, osgood. Very well could be a mg issue, but more info will help narrow it down, and help you avoid further problems.
pH in and out, a bit more detail on your soil, temps, RH, and feeding schedule, and watering practices.
Are you still running your lights at 50%?
A pic of the whole plant would also be good.
In the mean time, :peace: and :karma Cloud: for your gal.

Don't need it do as I say boy.
 That's just what my Dad used to tell me when I said "Hey, I've got an idea"!

I just picked up some CalMag and am going to try that, I check my ph going in and have tried checking the soil ph but I'm not sure if I'm doing it right and I only have strips not a digital reader. They are roughly 5-6 weeks old. I doubt it's a light issue, I have 6 plants in a 5x5 tent under a 1,000 watt hps. I bought big in case I'm ever able to grow more than my 6 plants (Caregiver laws change, domestic partner with mmj card, etc...). I agree it looks like a nutrient deficiency, I'm just confused if its Mag or Nitrogen or...something else, I've been feeding full strength with the beginner GH line so I thought maybe it was the plants not being able to take up the nutrients as apposed to not enough nutrients... Are those pictures ok? Should I upload more? I was really hoping an experience grower could look at the pictures and be like "Ok the problem is _____ and you need to do ____". I dumped the last of my savings into this to try and overcome the high caregiver prices, I'm going to be super bummed out if they die on me :-/ If anyone reading this is an experienced grower and from the Southern Maine area PM me please.

I mixed my soil using the recipe stickied in the new grower section except I used some locally bought organic soil for the base, I'm running my light at 100% now and the temps range from upper 70s to low 80s but never over 85. My RH is 35%-40%. I've been feeding every 3 or 4 days with jugs of spring water mixed with full strength basic GH nutrients on the aggressive vegetation line of the chart. PH going in is around 6.5, I believe the soil is about 6.5 as well but I'm not sure if I have been doing it right. I have been taking a little of the soil and mixing it with water, letting it sit for an hour and then testing that. I'm not against a digital ph reader if that will help me, I'm just having trouble finding a well reviewed one in the $30-$40 range. Anyone have a recommendation on a good economy reader? Thanks so much for the help guys!

I'll update with pictures after I get off work tonight.

I don't think its lights either and that's the perfect age for cal/mag def.u said u were using grow nutes full strength than its probably not nitrogen.better pics would b cool but for now u got some Epsom salt?mix a few tsp a gallon and spray er down good then after bout 30 min make sure u have air movement so not to mold or mildew.should see an improvement in 48 hrs.

I never could read those soil tests.
I'm using an ECO pH2, and it's been a godsend for my old eyes. Even with the storage and calibration fluid (must haves), it was right in the $50 range, on sale at Amazon.
Here's a good reference to calculate soil pH.

PH Calculation Guide by GoAuto6

Rough Calculation Guide:

Here's some good info on ph.....
If your runoff pH is higher than your starting pH, use this equation to determine your soil pH:*
Soil pH = Runoff pH + Difference

If your runoff pH is lower than your starting pH, us this equation:
Soil pH = Runoff pH - Difference.

For example, say your the starting pH of your solution before it goes in is 6.5 and the pH of your runoff is 7.0. The difference is +0.5, so using the above equation:
Soil pH = 7.0 + 0.5*
Soil pH = 7.5

If your starting pH is 6.5 and your runoff is 6.0, your difference is -0.5 and using the above equation:
Soil pH = 6.0 - 0.5
Soil pH = 5.5

Thanks for the tip Renaissance, 47 bucks and it qualifies for Amazon Prime! Would it be better to turn my light off and use my phones flash to take the pictures?
