Anyone able to help out with wtf these tiny buggers are?

Bastards are eating up my seeds before they can break soil and eating the roots of the ones that make it above ground and killing them off :finger:

Clearly going to have to toss this mix in the trash but just thought i'd try and figure out what they are first lol

no need to throw it all away. Put it in a closed bin in the sun, or put it all in a clear trash bag, let it dry out completely and sit a while (in the sun), and then recycle it.

they die in the dry, and the sun will basically sterilize it over a months time. Or, you can bake it in an oven for maybe an hour at 250 F.

Thanks man

Just easier to chuck it lol Was just a crappy seedling mix i had sitting around anyways with a bit of added coco so no big loss plus i have to pick up more soil anyways.

:smoking: hey Shum'! ....:cuss:fekkin' vermin! yeah, most likely gnat larvae,.... I'm with DAB's on prevention; get some of those 'squito bits/granules... Bonide and Summit brands,... you can just toss some in when you make up the medium, or make quick tea with it: 1gal water, 1 fatT molasses, dash of nutes, nd about 1/8 cup of bits... mix up and set some place warm, stir when you can or better yet get a mini aquarium bubbler and air stone... then just water it in! the bacterium persists for a while, so only 1-2 treatments is needed usually,...

Yea i also have some bugs in my ocean forest and I dont know where they came from must be the ocean forest . Im in the cold it was like 20 from the time i got it so not really any bugs flying around here so must have come from the soil.Im not sure if they are good or bad bugs i have this time though. They are tiny and silver too small to take a pic of.
