Just wondering what everyone's thought on using lime (dolomite, calcitic or gardenlime) in an organic grow? I currently am going lime free and am nervous. Yet when I first started growing I didn't use it and had great results. The soil was pre buffered and I add a healthy amount of humus. Please chime I'm and let me know your experiences. Thank you.
3 bags Soil - Happy frog
20 percent perlite
1/2 cubic ft coast of maine lobster compost
20lbs of nature's solution ewc
1/2 cubic ft of ancient forest humus
4 cups of happy frog jump start
2 cups diatomaceous earth
1 1/2 cups of insect frags
4 cups of crabshell meal
4 cups of kelp meal
2 cups of biochar
2 tsp of humid acids
3 cups high phos bat guano
7 gallon root pouches
600 watt lights
Co2 ??? Have it but don't like the hassle.

Sense I have started using lime I have been having better results. I love lime. Maybe a more experienced organic grower could chime in if I am off beat but if it was me I would sub 1 cup of the crab she'll for 1 cup of lime. It seams like a lot of crab she'll to me though and if using lime you could probably cut some crab she'll out and do 1 or 2 cups crab and 1 cup lime. Happy frog is pretty good on pH out of the bag so your only balancing the amendments you are adding and adding mag with it. I also add 1 table spoon of epsom salt per bag with my mix for mag.Ran happy frog for years tell I used roots. Will never use happy frog again. It compacts with age too much even with perlite added. Something I have started using with great results is steer manure for my nitrogen. Works great and last a long time in the soil. Have to treat for gnats though if you use it. Mosquito dunks work ok for this crushed up and added to mix during the cooking process.

really depends on your organic growing style truly, weather your using teas..concentrate teas,or just plain water from the tap and what kind of water that is too. but ime i ALWAYS uyse lime in my mixes. have stellar results 99% of the time.so Id use it for a safety net firstly, and secondly it'll help mellow and ballance your mix especially if its lacking in a few areas they tend to show a lil faster and mellower too. so easier to get a handle on quicker but you have ti read your plants decently imo.
