New Grower TomFoolery plants a seed...

Yeah, I use a third party image server as well....imageshack. Just make sure to put the settings on private ;) So it doesn't get presented to the cloud voyeurs....

Day 30 Update:
Things got rough going into week 2. Tiny 26w cfl just weren't cutting it. It tried taking them outside for sun, but had a close call w/the neighbor. So I had to put them under the big light earlier than planned. The cheap econ-o-wing was hot and I cooked them for a few days before I replaced it w/the real deal lg. adjust-a-wing avenger. Things starting to get manageable again, but I'd like that week back.
Poor number 5 was really in bad shape at day 14. Almost ready to give up on her, but I've got space, and this is a learning experience, so I thought I'd give LST a try. But she was so small, it only took a few seconds, and I was bored. Number 1 was looking kinda tall...so by the time I was done, 1,2,&5 all got it.
The great thing about not knowing what you're doing is the freedom to try anything.
There must be some masochism gene in number 1, because she takes every bit of bondage, abuse, and mistreatment I throw at her, and seems to thrive. Her sister 2 isn't so willing, but seems to be following along. Anything number 5 does is a bonus at this stage, since I'd basically given up her already.
Numbers 4 & 5 showed their first pistils today! :) my little runt number 6 is almost as big as her sisters, and doing well.
I'm not really following a feeding schedule. I'm just guessing based on leaf colors. 5 gets very little, 6 can't get enough.

I was recently in a rough patch with my girl, and at one point, thought it was a wrap. We stuck it out, and now she seems to be recovering quite nicely. Stick with it, Mr. Foolery. As you said, it's a learning experience, and this will only make your next grow that much better.

DAY 42

For the most part, things going well. They're growing like...well, weeds. 26-29" on the un-molested, and even 16" on the LST girls. I stuck with the LST from weeks 2-4, then just let them go their own way. I'm raising the light an inch each day to keep ahead of them.
Poor picture

I am still managing to create some problems for myself. As they've been stretching, I've been pushing stronger nutes. I think I found the limit. Only one of the NLBB got 'the claw'. This was the result from a feed 4 days ago.

Fortunately I know what to do to keep this from getting worse.
The two Criticals have a more serious problem. That poor soil mix I did at the start is still reminding me of its existence. I have a soil pH issue, and now magnesium deficiency, I believe.

These are the worst leaves off both plants, and mostly came from the bottom and middle where they lived in the shade from above, but I am noticing fading in some upper growth that I'm sure are a cry for help.
I ran out to the box store and picked up an analog soil pH tester to get an idea what I was up against.
The healthy plants showed a soil pH of aprox. 6.7, the sicker ones were both about 6.2. My water in is at 6.8.
I upped the Cal-Mag over the last few weeks from 1/4 to 1 tsp/gal, and I use it almost every water...Hmm, typing it out makes it feel like not such a great idea, as when it was just in my head. I've read too much can be just as bad...
I haven't started any bloom nutes yet, but thinking it'll be time soon.
So I'm hoping for some opinions.
Please, what have I done, and how can I fix it?
Hoping to get a grip on this, before I do any real damage.

Thanks you for posting that Mr. Greenbandit that's is just what I was looking for!

Glad I was able to help you in some small way, AK. Does your name rep the state you're from? Just curious because I'm originally from Alaska, and it's always good to chat with a fellow Alaskan
